CU2 - Appradio - LG3

Hi All,

It's been a while since I've shared anything with my fellow acuraziners. I wanted to give back and show you guys a little something I've been cooking for the past few months since I've had my LG3. Check out the video below for my makeshift version of a Android operated HeadUnit using Pioneer's AppRadio3. Please see the following and let me know what you guys think! I have perfected most of the issues with the sync. Only issues I am experiencing now is the time lag to launch the app. Due to the fact you are mirroring it to your car headunit, there's a limit on how fast the car headunit can process that command. It is by car the most smoothest configurations I have made to my phone to car. Check it out!

Awesome, Mine is sort of similar.
I also have dynamatted all my doors and installed Alpine Type R in the front, polk in the rear.

I have installed an android tablet in the dash, but I actually like your solution a bit better since you can mirror your phone directly onto it.

Great setup! Stupid questions... assuming installed correctly, can the AppRadio see climate control information? Do steering wheel buttons do anything? I wonder how well this would play with a TSX with the TECH package (i.e., ELS everything)...

This type of solution would actually work in a tech.. since you would be gutting the existing system entirely. Amp and all.

I just installed the NEX4000. Do I need to root my phone to get the full mirroring or just use Mirror Link? Not sure if there are any difference..

I used the metra double-din kit on mines. for someone who is ocd, you can notice the difference, but it is definitely passable. in the future, if i have extra cash laying around, i wouldnt mind spending it to get the oem kit.

there's quite a few steps you will need to do in order to make the setup perfect. I just updated my setup recently, such that it auto loads everything now. I do not need to press anything to get it mirror my phone. however, it required the following:

Custom Rom from xda.com - i recommend this only because it helps with clearing out all of your bloatware. realistically, you only need to root and get su permission. i went all the way and installed a custom rom from paranoid.
tasker - to auto populate the settings when it docks and undocks.
arunchainned app - you must purchase from appstore in order to utilize its flawless sync vs paid version.
a/v cable for your phone to headunit.

NOTE: it was especially difficult with an LG G3 due to the bootloader being locked by the manufacturer. so it took a lot of patience to follow the steps in order to bypass it. but if you have another manufacturer, should be a breeze.

btw, mirror link is different from mirroring your phone. using their stock application, only allows you to use selective apps available from your phone. whereas, if you downloaded arunchained, it replaces the appradio app and gives you full mirroing control. you can basically use your phone on your headunit flawlessly. messaging, whatsapp, maps, google voice, email, youtube, movies, access download folder etc.
