I picked up a winbook 7 inch tablet that runs FULL windows 8.1. It seems pretty powerful for such a small package.
Has anyone ever try this as a carputer solution??
The freaking thing even has a full size USB port.
All for $60. I love this thing.

How does it run with a gig of ram?

 

Surprising well. I have had no issues with it at all and im usually annoyed by slow computers and this little thing shows no signs of slowness. If memory is an issue, you can always use the virtual memory with your micro sd drive. Im using about 1 gig of page filing so in a way, i have 2gb of ram.
I have also managed windows to only take up 400mb on start up. I could probably bring it down lower but it works just fine.

Maybe microsoft finally hit the nail on the head with windows 8.1?

It's actually very nice. I have the 2GB dell one also and this is just as fast.

And yea I do think it would work well for a carputer, just like I have done with the nexus 7 in my car.

The dell one i bought a while ago refurb deal on Dell Outlet.

The coupon they actually gave me at the counter at MicroCenter. you just have to ask them.
