Calling anyone that installed an aftermarket head unit...

I've seen several pictures, but just wanted your input if you are truly happy with the decision. Seeing pictures vs having experience with one in real life are obviously different.

I was looking to get a pioneer nexavh4100 put in. With installation and wheel controls its going to run pretty steep. I just have my iphone mounted to a kenu airframe right now and it does the job, but I would feel it would be a nice upgrade. It is also a pain in the ass to change songs and what not. To add to the price, I could also get a back up camera which is extremely helpful with the low visibility out the back window.

Thoughts?
Thanks

Ive been reading most of the threads of people that have installed headunits and they all seem to be happy with it.
You should consider an android headunit. They are much cheaper then the mainstream brands and do a hell of a lot more. Its like having a carputer in your car with the ability to expand by downloading apps.

Thanks for the input. I have an iphone so android wouldn't be an option.

You having an iPhone doesn't mean you can't use an android headunit. Android headunits works with iPhone. AirPlay and all.

Yeah. I was going to with an alpine or a pioneer but they are so limited and expensive. I found some awesome android radios on Amazon and the quality is backed by customer reviews.

I have just installed my android (Joying Headunit android 4.4.4) but have sound issues. Trying to fix it. But it is an increadible upgrade in every aspect. My old system was a oem 6cd premium audio (Non-Navigation)
My problem is after install no sound from back speakers/subwoofer and amplifier. So only front speakers doing the job. Unfortunately from 3 speakers+2 tweeters on the frontside are producing very poor sound. Quality of sound seems aceptable but the level and loudness is very very poor. I will post a short video soon on this forum for the people who also wanna install an Android. So they can see how it works and looks like.

Thanks for this, I am looking forward to the video / pictures. I hope you can figure out the sound issue. Hopefully it is just a settings issue or at most, a hook up issue in the back of the head unit. Good Luck

Actuallt whe i decided for an upgrade, my choices are Pioneer or Kenwood units but seems very expensive and limited abilities. On the otherhand my new Android unit is much cheaper, even if i have to buy an external amplifier (in case my factory amplifier do not support tmy new android headunit) still a budget solution that gives much more options and freedom than a highend wellknown aftermarket unit like Pioneer, JVC Kenwood etc. They are mostly above $700 if you look for a good one. My headunit is like $300 and with some additional extra's like reverse cam, DashDVR, DAB+, wiring harnesses and adapters still under $500!! But you need time, knowledge, google and a lot of patience to install and also luck to get it work. Because some Chinees aftermarket units could be pain in the ... If there is a problem wtih your purchase you can better forget about your money and support

My video and photo's coming soon but not here. I will post them on my own topic in this subforum.

I second this. I too have an android radio and it is by far the best radio I ever had. The freedom it provides is second to none. All for under $300.

Sorry to bring forth the reality check, but you'll have much better luck asking this question in the 2G TL sub-forum.
