Bluetooth HFL Unit Upgrade

I'm having Bluetooth connection problems in my 2010 TSX Tech. Does anyone know if a HFL unit from a newer Acura or Honda will plug in and work? I'm thinking a newer control should have the latest Bluetooth capabilities and perhaps a nice user interface too. The original P/N is 39770-TL2-A21 and costs about $1200.

I'm doubtful a different one would work. You could go to an Acura or Honda OEM site and see if connections are the same between your current one and newer ones for other vehicles. But even if they are, the software or ECU might not work with a different one, even if the interface was the same. You'd be taking a gamble.

You're probably right. For some strange reason the HFL Control Unit for the 2nd Gen TSX is the only one with an insanely high price, most other modesl are less than $300. Anyone know if the Bluetooth Audio user interface is different on a 2014 compared to a 2010? More specifically do the newer TSXs display song information from iTunes if using Bluetooth audio? There are used units on eBay with 2012 and 2013 production dates for less than $100.

What kind of phone do you have?

My thoughts on the HFL module are that it likely uses outdated bluetooth profiles which causes subpar performance when using a phone made in the last ~4-5 years.

You'd be better served replacing the headunit with an aftermarket one.

I have an 09 and got a different module off of Ebay, they are all the same connections but different version numbers. I looked at the options and picked the one with the newest version number. It worked but had a lot of echo for the other person when I would make calls.
