Base 2011 TSX question

How does the iPod interface work on the base 2011 TSX? Does it display info on the radio? Can you control it with the steering wheels controls? Debating base model versus tech option. what would I give up by going with the base model?

I have an 09 (base) and yes, the radio controls the IPOD (touch) once you connect.

If your Ipod has bluetooth it will stream audio wirelessly. You can control the ipod from the steering wheel controls but when stream I do not get the song information on the radio screen. I'm not sure if it works the same with the aux jack because I've only used bluetooth.

You don't really give up anything unless your goal is navi or a pretty screen. But if you know how to read road signs to get where you want to go, look up at the sky to get your weather information or look down the road in front of you to figure out whether there is a traffic jam then you don't need navi. As far as steering controls, I know mtripps said he can use his. I can't. I have a 2010 base model.

You should probably sit in one and play with the controls until you get comfortable with it and then sit in the other and decide what you want/like more in each. Good luck.

I have a 2012 TL...I know, different vehicle but similar radio systems and I noticed when I use Aux, I get the song info displayed. I didn't see it in Bluetooth mode. I use Aux most of the time because the sound quality is better. And while using Aux, the phone is connected to Bluetooth simultaneously.

I have the Base TL, no Navi but I use Waze, it is a free Navi App and it has all the same features as the Acura Navi plus more. You should get a windshield mount for your phone if you want to use it that way the screen is propped right next to the steering wheel for easy viewing and access.

Its sooo pretty! But really though the TSX doesn't look great without the navi screen...

OP Tech package gives you: Navi, Back up camera, Better (IMO) sound system, Bigger and better screen (no one mentions this...), and 15gb's of storage for audio.
