Aftermarket speakers

I am interested in hearing what everyone has for aftermarket speakers. I installed JL C3-650s and its treble heavy as hell, trying to determine if its the speaker or the signal.

Anyone replaced stock speakers with some aftermarket that sound badass without an EQ installed?

I've experienced the same issue with my JL's. I'm going to consider Alpine speakers next time.

have you tried an EQ? i think im gonna try that because the JL's should be spot on and it may be signal sent from stock amplifier for the regular speakers that makes em sound the way they do with the heavy treble

I use the EQ on my IPOD classic. It's not the best, however it does "tone down" the excessive treble.

FYI --> I have a JL Audio Slash V/2 amplifier installed.

sounds like your setup is the exact same as mine as im running a 300/4v2 to my speakers as well. EQ on phone/ipod does a little bit but either way the signal is all still running through the HU so it can only do so much, i think im going to get a JBL MS8 for greater control of the signal to see if it resolves the issue. if it doesnt i will be getting new speakers.

Most likely it is because the compression of the drivers at high volume and distortion. An equalizer may help
