2010 TSX ipod intergration without Tech Package

Hi everyone,

I am considering the 2010 TSX without the tech package. It appears the console screen is not an LCD type without the tech package. Is this true?

I'm specifically curious becuase I want to understand how the dispaly works for the ipod intergration. Is the display of good quality allowing you to easily navigate play lists and by artists, albums, songs, etc.

Does anyone have this model that can fill me in?

Thanks in advance.

It's not an LCD, but it's easy to read, and it's fairly easy to navigate among artists and albums. I don't use playlists, so I can't comment on that. Like the iPod itself, you can't scroll up from A to Z, which I find annoying. Unlike the iPod, it doesn't sense when you want to scroll quickly and make large jumps; every click on the knob just moves one artist or album, so it takes awhile to get to the end of the alphabet. This is also annoying, especially when you're a Who fanatic! (I guess I need to create some playlists to deal with this.) Overall, however, I think it works well.

technically, it's still an LCD screen. It's just a different type of LCD, similar to a digital watch. The font is white, on the black background. The brightness is adjustable. Overall, I'm happy with with the screen offers. My only gripe is that for songs/artists with longer names, it fails to scroll the title to reveal the rest of the words unless you press and hold the "Title" button.

The best thing to do if you're seriously thinking about it, is just to go into your local dealership and look at the screen in person. Just don't get suckered into buying unless you already have a price in mind.

I traded a 07 Si for a 6MT Tech. Before the TSX, I would shift, shave, smoke, spend my time looking for destinations, hold the phone and muddlefutz with the iPod while driving.

With the TSX, all I have to do on my way into work is shift, shave & smoke, so I'm 50% safer on the road.

As mentioned above, my only real gripe with the iPod integration is an inability to scroll quickly from A-Z & having to start the search from the beginning when I want another artist. If you hold the joystick down it scrolls kinda quickly, but not fast enough. You'll get good at knowing where the different letters begin (AC/DC to Type O Negative takes about 20 seconds with 23 gigs of music.)

I was gonna go with my I-Pod but bought a 2GB USB card instead.

Why use a Ipod when U can buy a USB card for $20 and make folders on there and put diff playlists in each folder.. The usb Drive works GREAT, there is no need to leave my Ipod in the car, Someone would break a window for a Ipod but i dont think someone would break a window for a USB card!

How would anyone know if there was an ipod or usb flash drive in the car? They are stored out of sight under the arm rest.

The advantage with the ipod is you can play real playlists. If you have 10 playlists with the same song, you have to put that song on the flash drive 10 times (or do I have the wrong?)

I organize my mp3's via artist/album...but I don't always want to play only 1 artist/album. I don't have an ipod but I wish I did.

well..pretty much everyone said it. the only bad thing is it fails to scroll longer names and search by alpebets. if u do wanna get to the last song onthe list, or somewhere in the end, u can just click play on the first song, then on your steering wheel click previous song then it'll jump to the last song, which i find useful
