I am just wondering people who experience engine pinging problem whether has been fixed or not, b/c mine seems was not fixed after TSB(09-041) done.

I'm in the same boat, it got better but I still hear it and so did they but I got the old "some ping is normal" BS

I dont think it will harm anything but it is not what is should be for this brand.

Mine's probably 99% gone. I hear hints of it every once in a while but only if I'm driving with the radio off. When I do hear it, the duration is only for a few seconds. I'm sure the engine is making noise more often than that and I just don't hear it.

I've wondered all along if what you guys are actually hearing is valve chatter and not pinging. Every single Honda I've ever owned has had noisy valves, including my TSX. It's not really loud, but audible from the cabin with radio off. Generally around 2K RPM's under light acceleration is when it's the most noticable.

It seems TSB not really fix the problem. My condition is pretty much same with you guys. It happens around 2k RPM with light acceleration. It is not loud, but 100% is noticeable even with radio on (volume 5-6). I totally agree it should not have a ping with 30k car. I just put 93 gasoline from Exxon. even though i don't believe name brand gasoline will fix the problem. I always have generic 93 gasoline. but i still want to give a try for one tank only which I can shut dealer's "BS". b/c they always ask people to use name brand 93 gasoline.

I think we pretty much stuck here until they have another TSB or may be not.

update! Name brand gasoline is liar and huge "BS". I hear ping more often than generic brand. I always felt they did not replace my knock senor and update software, b/c it did not improve at all. I don't know can I go to other dealer to get TSB done again?

I was just curious...since everyone seems to be noticing the pinging at roughly the same time I hear the valves chatter.

Good luck to those of you with the pinging

In my case, it happen around 2000RPM with light accleration. Mine pinging sounds like you tab empty glass bottle with chopstick continually. You can hear series of pinging, it will last about 1 to 2 second. It will be gone when speed pickup. It is not lound, but you can hear it with radio off or very low volume. Hope this will help.

FYI, Have TSB-09-40 done with dealer. There is no significant improvement. I think TSB-09-40 only fixed more severe ping with moderate or heavy accleration.

Can I have more detail info regarding valve chatter? b/c my noise is a series of sound and last for about 1 or 2 seconds around 2K RPM's under light acceleration. I have TSB done for ping issue for 1600 miles alreday, but it did not help at all. If it is really valve chatter is anything we or dealer can do to get rid of it, b/c i always feel so uncomfortable.
