window tinting problems?

I'm getting my windows tinted tomorrow morning.... I was warned about previous years of Acuras with the window tint scratching because of the hard plastic interior window liner.

On the 2009's... am I going to run into this problem? or is it a felt window liner now?

Off the top of my head i believe the liners are a felt type soft material.

I called one place that quoted me $240 + $40 for special gasket moldings, specifically for Acura tinting. He told me to google it and I would get info on this. But I have found no info at all.. any current owners have any comments on this?

The gasket is called 'moleskin' and you'll find a lot about it if you search the G1 boards

went to my referred tint shop today and was quoted $195 OTD for 15% in the rears and 70% UV for the front 2 windows all within the legal limits in my state

moleskin will be an extra $20 if necessary. i booked my appointment for next saturday.

ideally i would want the same tint % all the way around, but if I want to abide by CA state laws I have no choice.

got the tints done this past weekend... @ Tint King, in Billerica, MA. $250.

35% film all around, 20% film on the rear windsheild... the 2009's do have the felt window gasket so we're all set! no need for that moleskin BS.

the best thing to go with a pearl color car is tints... ill hopefully have some pics this coming week...

I have one concern though... the 20% in the rear windshield looks much darker than 20%... kinda afraid of getting pulled over! haha. I used to have a 2001 VW Passat, with 35s in the front and 12's in the back, rode around for 5 yrs w/ it before getting stopped and fined.

Thanks lilct24...

I called Tint King of Billerica, MA and I was quoted $240 + $40 for the moleskin, but you're telling me it's not needed, so that's great news...

I prob will do 35% all around... looking forward to your pics...

on a side note, I did see my 2nd TSX in the MA area - another gray Tech, with tints and a rear spoiler...

A forewarning to most tint places that I've heard from... because of the stock windows being around 90-95% factory tint... applying 35% film will make it JUST below legal limit.. and because of that, you have to pay cash or sign a waiver at most places...

I had to pay cash at Tint King... but its well worth it to have 35% tint, because the next step up would be a 45-50% tint, and thats just too light.

They also offer a lifetime warranty.

I just scheduled an appointment to have my TSX tinted tomorrow. In PA the legal limit is 30% tint. If it too light I'm going with 20%. Hopefully I wont get fined. In Philly, a lot of cars have tint around 20%.

The tint shop quoted me for $170 (including the $10 discount coupon) + lifetime warranty. It would be an extra $20 for the moonroof.

My car is ebony. I'll post pics when its finished.
