what is this in the trunk, is it a noise maker?

The replacement of the specified clip has to do with safe operation of the SRS device.

This thread is funny and another example of why you should never buy a car from an "enthusiast".

The "normal" buyer has a noise and they go to the dealer to get it fixed.

The "enthusiast" buyer jerry rigs the problem and ends up with a car that has 20lbs of microfiber rags in the trunk or a bunch of unsafe airbags.

Either live with the noises or fix it properly.

Unless I'm missing something that rear panel shouldn't affect the side air bags. Start at 26 seconds.

Yeah.. looks as if it won't affect anything. But maybe if the clips aren't in it will fly off and could hit someone.

The covers on airbags (not Acura specific, just in general) have more than a cosmetic function. They are intended to time the activation and (in some cases) to shape the deployment.

Some manufacturers use different clips that look similar to delay or allow speedier release of certain trim bits - or like iCrap said - to keep the trim bit from flying about and slashing either an occupant or an airbag.

When a manufacturer mandates the replacement (instead of re-use) of a fastener then there is a good reason behind that mandate.

Right - and being in Maryland you are limited to one dealer.

If you (I'm speaking generically here since I know that you know this) have a legitimate significant issue that a dealer recognizes but won't correct and that isn't present on a new car on the lot, then either go to a different dealer or call Acura.

For small stuff like a rattle in the trunk I just don't think it's worth the time going through the hassle. I checked with the 2 dealers near me that I know of that are somewhat close to me.

My bigger issue is still the "TMPS System fail" light that comes up when it's cold outside, I took the car in twice though and they said they had fixed it both times (they said they changed some battery)
