Im using a ceramic tint from the company Hyper Optik.

I believe any ceramic tint will accomplish what you are looking for, but you still do have to follow the law.

what is the law in NY regarding tint? how low are you allowed to go.

EricinMaryland advised you to do an 80% in the front.

okay, you can get whatever color your tiny little heart wants, but it has to let 70% light pass through.

just letting you know, that there are TONS of different companies, TONS of different colors, and TONS of different materials....

70% blue will let 70% light come through.
70% black will let 70% light come through

Whatever tint you get, I think most of us on here will agree that you should get moleskin installed with it.

Man that sucks, you guys have laws up the ass. I think I have 30% tint all around. Black. I'm not a fan of the blue one, I think it's kind of tacky.

From what I know in Florida, they only can tack on a ticket for illegal tint if you're pulled over for something else, such as speeding.

Most tints are seldom the number advertised. Llumnar Pinnacle Ceramic 40 is 42. Don't forget you must factor in the factory tint.

I had my car metered when the tint went on. It was 37% once the 42% was applied. That means the factory tint is 88%

88% * 42% = 37%

For the OP This means to meet 70% you must add 80% and no less:

88% * 80% = 70%

^good shit with the specifics!
I was just being general.

also, a ceramic tint will look more reflective than your normal dyed tint.

What do you have on? I have 3m ceramic 35% tint. It does seem a little darker at some angles.

here in Texas the legal limit at the time was 35%.
my tinter also sold me on the ceramic tint, as a lighter shade will protect from UV rays and heat as a darker limo tint would.
I chose the legal limit of 35% Huper Optik ceramic tint.
a few years later, Texas changed the law to 20% legal limit.

I do have an ebony interior and some of the shots, I've "Enhanced" with a photo editing software.

Choosing 35% put you well below the legal limit at the time. You're legal now. Your tint level is about 27%.

So i called Solar Protection and they quoted me at 400$ for 40% ceramic tint. Which is pretty expensive and regular tint at 180$
I am going to the place tomorrow to see how the ceramic will look on my window.

didnt know ceramic could be that expensive =X

I have 35% 3M ceramic on my windows. I think 20% looks better but I didn't want to deal with tickets. I will say ceramic does an excellent job repelling heat and reducing the sun's intensity.

well, I live in texas. the texas sun isnt a joke.
and I was sold once the salesman pointed out that a 35% blocks out harmful stuff just as much as 5% limo tint.

and I had just bought the car and wanted all the best things on her.
fuck it, i'll charge the 360-390 to the credit card.

the tint really has been wonderful for the last 4 years ive had it.
if i were to do it over again, i would dismount my brake light on the back window so the tinter would have gotten the whole back instead of cutting around the light.

also, i would ask for no logos or any type of advertisement. at first i was mad that they tinted over a little sticker advertising their phone number.
in the grand scheme of things, this is a tiny tiny detail.

last, i would ask for them to tint ALLL the way into the quarter window on the rear.

I believe legal tint in FL is 28% but i went with 35% instead of 30 because i have black interior so it looks darker from most angles. I don't like dealing with cops.

I paid $200 for mine through the Honda dealership nearby (35%). Came with a warranty and at that price it's great. I didn't need a fancy ceramic or super high end tint, this does the job just fine.

Florida:
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line. Front Side Windows Must allow more than 28% of light in. Back Side Windows Must allow more than 15% of light in. Rear Window Must allow more than 15% of light in.

I don't know how true this is...but the less expensive tints are metallic and can block cellular, gps and EZPass. Ceramic does not, or so they sales pitch goes.

Mine was $380 for all windows except windshield. That was extra.

^the problem with the 3rd gen TL windows, was that the felt that laid against the window is very snug.
this window "blade" gets dirty. (opening and closing windows will get microscopic dirt particles wedged in between the window and window "blade")
I dont know the real term for it, i just call it a blade, as its a long thin piece of plastic/felt that lays against the window.

when sand gets trapped between this blade and window, as you roll the window up, it will scratch the tint.
you'll have vertical lines going up and down the window

mole skin is felt.
matter of fact, I used felt instead of buying the brand name "Mole skin"
Mole skin goes in between this blade and the window.
this felt absorbs the dirt particles and prevents the vertical lines

ok i will look into, but most likely will pass on moleskin for now. the ceramic price itself is pretty hefty.
