Two more blown speakers...

Well I have never used the warranty as much as I have on this car, than on any other Japanese car I ever owned.

Rear passenger speaker was just recently replaced by the dealer.

I only listen to AM radio. Mostly on volume 7-11 max.

BOTH front speakers are now blown, with full static

YAY ME

Is there a known reason why the speakers are shorting out in the Tech package cars ?
You certainly are not overdriving the amp in your situation.

No clue.

Now I wonder what hte shelf life of these new speakers are, or if I am going to have to get them replaced every few months?

The problem resides further back in the audio chain somewhere, at least that is generally the case with speaker issues like this.

Hardly doubt the dealer monkeys would wnat to spend time figuring it out?

They will just throw parts at it and replace them, don't you think?

Maybe it's the speakers way of revolting against AM radio?

Have you confirmed that the speakers aren't working with the other inputs as well? FM/CD/Bluetooth/USB?

It's been a while since I've tuned into AM but I remember it being pretty buzzy in it's own right.

Or I wonder if the AM tuner in the radio is kaput and causing problems.

That just seems really odd. The Acura techmonkies must be in disbelief that you keep blowing speakers with the morning AM sports report!

I uploaded some Katy Perry songs to the HDD that I borrowed from my friends daugther.

The speakers make noise just fine. BUt if you turn it up after 6/7 volume, you have a nasty static coming through.

Now whether the song is California Gurls or moron Jim Buss non laker trades, the buzzing remains.

Ooh. Have they dicked with the radio itself? I wonder if it's just a bad ground somewhere...

Per my knowledge they didn't mess around with the radio at all.

Not sure if you recall, when I complained about the intiial "buzzing" they said it was "normal"

Till I stood in teh service bay, and moved the sound myself to each speaker to locate the rear passenger speaker that was makign the buzzing noise.

Of course the dealer monkeys after being pointed that out, decided it was blown speaker and fixed it.

SHould I mention anything them looking at radio, since the front two speakers now doing same thing?

Update from service advisor:

He said he doesn't see this on TSX but he has had two RDX recently with same problem. Instead of replacing speakers, they replaced the AMP, and problem is gone.

He said he is suspecting the AMP is the issue on mine. He will have the same tech work on it, and secheduled me for next monday.

Will keep the thread udpated.

Makes me glad I didn't get the tech package. I hope it works out for you. We all have a fairly rare wagon; I think in its 2011-2014 run, Acura sold about 15,000 of them.

I love my wagon. I just want my radio to work.

That said, the other tech package highlight of power liftgate is a must for me and one that i constantly use.
