Fuck. Back to the drawing board. I have an idea but i dont want to make you make guinea pig through all this shit so i will test it myself tomorrow or in the coming days.
Im basically thinking that i will just take all the dumpable .bin files and just patch all those mother fuckers and if that doesnt work ill try loading a nav dvd replica (down to the 6.7gb) and seeing if that takes the files

As of right now, I think we shouldn't worry about what pictures we want but trying to get it to work and then after that it'll be easy to just change out the pictures as we please.

small update: the only other dumpable bin on the dvd is 09touch2.bin and it contains identical files to 09jog2.bin
my guess is that its for the touch interface version of our navi... is there a touch interface version of our navi actually?
we must be in the right with 09jog2.bin but like kowloon so eloquently put it...more investigation is necessary

Just tried this but it didn't work, but I did get some useful information that may help others:
1. KillerG is correct, there is only 1 file to replace, which is Opening1.bmp.
2. The Navi DVD *does* update your ECU. Another user on the forum was ridiculed for saying that it seemed like his car responded better after updating the DVD; this is CONFIRMED (see pic below).
3. I believe the booktype of the DVD matters. I used a plain DVD+R on a burner that does not have booktype set to DVD-ROM. Since my DVD burning days are behind me, I do not have access to a DVD-ROM booktype burner. But this might help someone else who's trying this. What causes me to believe this is the "(Supplier Check)" message that you see below. I doubt that it's any check other than booktype.
As you can see below, my ECU is 1.75.00 KA. The program on my DVD is 1.73.02. The one on the OZhonda site is something ridiculously low. It makes me wonder what version the 2011 DVD has...

At this point even if I could change the booktype on my burner I'd rather not downgrade my ECU to an older version. If I had access to the disc that gave me 1.75 (probably the dealer) then yeah, I'd definitely try this again.

Wondering if anyone can help me on this. I'm trying to replace the image on my 06 Tsx. I'm able to replace the start up image, but the Acura emblem still shows on top of the image. How do I remove the emblem?

http://www.tsx club.com/forums/1st-gen-electronics/15678-navi-hack-06-08-models.html. I followed the instructions from that link. No space between Tsx and Club.
I download the 4.92 Navi disc. Extracted 09Touch2.bin from the iso. Created my own image and converted it just like in the instructions using 8to16. Now the part where you update the image, it says to update "opening3.bmp" in the instructions, I only found OpeningBase.bmp and Opening1.bmp. For my car I only needed to change OpeningBase.bmp with the image I created.
When that's done, burn these files to a cd/dvd
09Touch.bin
09Touch2.bin
A0000_00.MNG
DCA0.REG
PRG_INFO.MNG
UPDATE_APL.exe
Keep in mind, this was done on an 06 Tsx. You guys might just need to modify 09Jog2.bin only.

yeah it is, to date though none of us have gotten it to work, its all yours if you can get it going
its completely reversible since you are just gonna load the image in and then go back to ur stock navi disk
the issue which i think mr.o nailed is that you need to have a compatible booktype for the navi system to read the disk, and only a select handful of dvd burners let you change the booktype
you would probably have to buy a special burner just to get it to work.
you could just try it with a verbatim dvd-r and see what happens though, hey if you get it to work then you could teach US how to do it

I realize this is an old thread but I'm wondering if anyone has been working on a hack for the 2009 nav splash screen?
I have been able to change the BMP in 09Jog2.bin, but when I reload software into the car the splash screen doesn't change. I suspect that it is not actually loading this file, instead it is using one of these files:
09Jog128SZA.bin
09Jog128TA0.bin
11Jog128Acu.bin
11Jog128M.bin
but I'm not sure which one, and the bysin utility cannot read these "128" files. If we could figure out how to edit these, I think we could update the splash screen.
Any thoughts?
