Unhappy Time to trade her in!

Who doesn't love Hit and Runs?!

A couple weeks before the hit and run, I hit a wall in our school parking lot.
It was a short brick wall that I couldn't see because of the spoiler, it was also raining and nighttime.

I then got it fixed, which the guy did an amazing job paint matching and filling, very happy with the results.

Depending on what my insurance company says, it may be time to trade her in for a black 2010 V6!

Damn! How much did you pay to get the first one fixed? I have a hit and run scratch on my bumper that's been there for the longest time...

You're trading it in because of a bumper?

Gee, do I repaint a bumper or take a big depreciation hit?

I agree. I don't understand why you would want to trade it in. Were you already planning to trade the car in for a v6 or what?

Lol, I thought the same when I first saw this thread but didn't want to ask in case it was "obvious" to trade it in o_o
I just repaired my damaged parts - it hurt.

I am going to trade it in because I had already planned to. The estimate to fix it was about ~$2,000. This car has been hit a few times before but very minor damage.

absolutely!! i've been doing some searching.. I'm also leaning towards an MDX.

Someone asked how much it was to fix where I hit the wall, he charged me $100. It was a lot worse than it looks, it went down along the bumper.

DAMN! Seriously? I never took it to a body shop, but my uncle said "That would be like $2000 because you hafta do something blah blah blah" and I never really looked into it...

I know you've had a string of bad luck, but just imagine if you traded it in early for the other car (V6 TSX / MDX) and the accidents happened to that car!

Best to be careful, get a rear view camera, choose your parking spots carefully (park out in left field) and all the best with the new(er) car

The guy spot sanded and filled it in and he does everything from a large Dodge van, he does such a great job with it though. He goes from dealership to dealership each week.

update : insurance isn't going to cover hit and run.

although, I did run into an old friend that does body work. He quoted me ~400 dollars if I order the tail light myself. which I did at the dealership for 111 dollars. since I'm trading it in, I'm also getting one of my wheels refinished. It was refinished horribly the first time.

We got the vehicle repaired.

Except.. Wednesday night rained extremely hard.
On Thursday I was loading some things and opened my trunk to see the lining wet on the trunk lid.

It had two wet spot behind the license plate holes, has anyone else had this happen to them?

The wet spots were too far away from where the repairs were done.

This doesn't really make sense.

1. Get spoiler leak finished it won't cost much maybe nothing.
2. Depreciation is going to suck with how little you have actually had the car.
3. Why would you want to upgrade to the V6 right now with fuel prices going up so much? I would at least ride it out with the I4 till it comes back down a bit. The depreciation will also hurt a bit less then too.

1. It's not a spoiler leak.
2. I'm not worried about depreciation.
3. I'm not worried about gas and the V6 is just an option.

You're going to trade it in because of a few scrapes?

If you're very well off financially then I guess it's no big deal but if you're not this is a very poor financial decision. The depreciation that you're not worried about will be rolled over into the new car loan and you will end up paying $35-40K for a $30K car. To each his/her own I guess.

I really hate seeing people post responses like the one above so cheers to another rant...

Whether she has the funds to do so or not is of no one's concern. If she wants to upgrade then so be it. Who cares? It aint your money. Unless your job is in finance and she solicited requests for financial advice (she didn't), you have no business telling her what she should/should not do with her car or money.

-End rant.... for now.

I'm willing to bet most of the members on here are much more experienced and have done this a few times. They're sharing their wisdom and sense, which is the whole point of a forum.

It would be horribly boring and annoying if everyone supported everyone else without any discussion.
