Switchback Side Mirrors

Does anyone know if we can do this for our side mirrors? Just thinking it would look legit to have some side mirror turn signals like mercedes (white until you turn on the signal) This would make a good addition for anyone with switchbacks already in their headlights.

pretty good idea actually. you gonna need to find some led stripe or something to replace the oem one though. and how would you cure the hyper flashing? a resistor? where you gonna mount it?

its a lot of work. i'm pretty sure the bulb in the sideview mirror is soldered in so you'd have to take apart the mirror, take out the regular bulb, add resistors or what not and then resolder the new one in...all without breaking it.

hmmmm well resistors are not a problem because I have switchbacks already in my headlights and that takes care of everything that blinks ( front, side mirrors, and tail lights) So these are not actual bulbs that can be replaced? I'll look for a diagram

So yeah they are LED strips already or at least 1st gen was so I am expecting ours are too. So you could actually just order 2 new light assemblies and replace the lights inside. Still need to do some more research. Any help or info welcomed.

And also, some work With wiring since our mirror turns don't turn on unless you're signaling. I can only think of wiring that light with the front signal light for that to work. I was also thinking of that until I realized that -_-

Side mirrors folding in are easy... I have seen it before. It's a pretty neat idea. The Dev bought a cheap HUD that plugged into his OBD II port and from there wrote a simple code that instead of displaying a speed through the device, the same signal was routed to a small gear located on top of the rotation assembly inside the mirror. I think he set it up so that every 2mph would correspond to 1 degree of rotation inward. So at 60mph your mirrors would be folded in 30 degrees, 80mph 40 degrees. It was pretty awesome, it looked like the car was streamlining itself as it went faster. Pretty BOSS, but idk how you would see after they folded in lol. AND YOU ARE A DUMB ASS IF YOU BELIEVE THIS

It's amazing to see how much cd can be dropped by folding or eliminating side view mirrors. That Bonneville salt flat Q45 had them removed...then again...it had moon disc wheel covers. = /

Another option is to just get a white LED strip cut it to the right size and put it inside the existing light fixture. How might you get this to work?? I think the majority who do light mods have LED footwell lights already. The wire should be long enough to splice right into your existing LED strip. So when your engine turns on so does your white LED side mirrors. I'm guessing the amber would be brighter when you are turning so as to overpower the white light the would be on constantly. Just another idea!

its just a matter of 'are they worth THAT MUCH'

mirrors are available. so are switches and sensors.

might require mirror cap painting too.

Is it worth a thousand dollars or more to you to have folding mirrors on your obsolete vehicle

this one is not for me/

Rob I definitely agree with you, it's one of those "pay to play" items to make your car stand out from the rest (as long as you're not located in europe/japan I suppose lol). I'd probably pay $300 max for everything, and the mirrors must be the original CU2 mirrors, in BWP. 1 grand? I might as well get myself a flashpro and a Progress RSB, or maybe even a used PCD if the seller is generous.

As far as mirror goes, new one on the way. You were the first to make a comment, thot for sure would've heard about it immediately lol

Of course u have to modify but for me it's easy. I used the factory switch only avail in Japan. It's also plug n play, u only have to run 2 wires. Ntm I solder and heat shrink all my connections. I also have a complete tl wire harness from doing a navigation swap so I have the actual pins/sockets plugged into the connector. Since I added drls to my mirror turn signals I made a custom harness using automotive connectors. You couldn't look at it and not know it wasn't factory. Sounds it bothers u over me having a magic wand and being able to wave it and "POOF" mirrors magically done. This is my expertise, I can just do stuff like that. Kinda similar to jnc or ack that can modify heads n tails, they don't write up a DIY for everyone. They do it and offer their skills to people. God forbid I do the same. If you are so disgruntled over this move on to a different thread....

disgruntled....lol/

you make a statement 'i can do it for less than half'

i say thats a bunch of BS. i guess you dont like I called BS on your SPECIAL skills. so maybe you should move on

i said it cost 1K.

not sure how you do math whereever you come from but lets see if you can AD:

if I buy mirrors they are well over the HALF number. THEN
then i need to ship them to you along with my stock mirrors.
i guess i need a rental or LOANER car for the amount of time I am without my mirrors.
then i suspect you dont do this for free.
wires and 'the special connectors' and tape and solder all cost money.
then their is the switch. need to buy that as well.
oh and the sensors......thats where the magic wand comes in

so PLEASE add some prices to this and lets see the LESS THAN HALF number or is it
