sport leather steering wheel: does anyone have it?
it looks like the difference is possibly higher quality, perforated leather on parts of it? is that it?
the stock steering wheel is okay, but it has kind of a rough, sandy feel to it, especially in the winter when the wheel and my hands are both freezing. i'm wondering if it will get a bit grippier, come summertime.
thoughts?

it's actually only around $400

not a bad price, the hardest part installing it is removing the airbag. i'm sure there are similar diy's in the rl forum for the wood wheel.

Isn't it the same wheel that comes stock in the RDX?
I was going to get it with my interior trim kit but I opted not to since I could not justify the extra cost for what was, IMO, a wheel with nothing more then perforated leather.

I have the Premium Sport Steering Wheel. I had to hard-bargain for it with the dealer. It is AWESOME, a huge improvement over the regular steering wheel - which has a mushy cheap feel. The leather is better quality and perforated, which means a better grip. The dealer did not want to include it for free, but I told them it it was a deal breaker.

just kidding. maybe i'll buy it for myself as a late birthday present...? i honestly don't think the stock wheel is awful, but it does have a weird, grainy feel to it that i hope gets better after awhile. is it made out of [lower quality, non-perforated] leather too?

Right on!
My previous car was a 04 Subaru Impreza WRX, it came standard with a premium leather MOMO steering wheel. So I was surprised that the TSX came standard with such a cheap feeling steering wheel. I mean, damn, you are paying for a luxury car, whats with the Honda civic quality wheel. The steering wheel is your frigging connection to the car, it better be top quality.

^^ beefy... lol.
I really like it and can only imagine how nice it feels, but I agree that nothing is wrong with the stock steering wheel. I can't justify the cost right now! Too rich for my blood
I'd rather put that $$$ towards Ad-Valorem Tax/Tag fees lol...

I have both accessories also and really like them, also the dealer gave me the stock stuff when I bought the car. I've been trying to sell the factory steering wheel and shift knob on eBay for dirt cheap for a while. You could probably have them recovered and custom cheaper than what you'd pay for the accessory ones, but I have to say the accessory ones are awesome.
Also if you go through all the trouble of changing the steering wheel, get the silver steering wheel trim that matches the rest of the interior. (No knee jokes this time)

is the diameter of the sport steering wheel any different?
i currently drive a 2010 camry se and the sterring wheels diameter is larger than that of the tsx i test drove. i dont know by how much but by noticable difference.
it must be a honda thing though. before we bought the camry, i test drove an accord, and were weirded out by the smaller size of the accords wheel. the tsx wheel is thicker so its nice to hold but still feels as if my arms belong further apart.
anyone else notice this?

Smaller steering wheel = less rotational movement = more control/responsive.

I have one of these that is practically brand new for sale if anyone is interested. It is the genuine OEM accessory wheel i bought from Acura, and ive only had it a couple weeks. The perforated leather is really nice, the shape of the wheel is perfect, and it looks great. but i prefer the feel of the OEM wheel's leather on the top to the sportier leather on the sport wheel. PM me if interested.

While we're on the topic of steering wheels and steering wheel trim - do they actually make steering wheel trim that macthes the new carker silver trim for the 2011's?
I know the stock one is very close, but I want an exact match for my 2011. I can't find one in the OEM accessories catalog, think I found silver (2009 - 2010) and 'dark metal' (accessory color).

I personally prefer the stock look to the sports leather. They remind me too much of my seats and I'm not into the holes in leather look :p
What did the interior trim kit entail? pics?

Just traded in my 05 for a 12 TSX. I didn't like the stock steering wheel. I think I missed the difference in the feel between the perforated leather part of the steering wheel and the plain leather. Anyway I went ahead and upgraded to the sporty steering wheel and like it a lot. It's stupid and expensive yes but I just like the feel of it.

^ i emailed redlinegoods a few days ago and i will be getting some of his leather samples for just this reason
they just recently got into re-wraps and will be showing off their first thickenings in the next few days
I looked into another company, dct motorsports, which had amazing wheels, but the price was far beyond what I would be willing to pay for a rewrap.
The only question now is if redlinegoods has nice feeling leather, the stock wheel is very soft and nice to the touch, so i hope it is on par with stock, because if its not that would be a deal breaker : (
either way i will keep you guys updated
an awesome wheel is an awesome upgrade... its the majority of how you interface with your car
