Exclamation Sneak Peek @ the Next Generation TSX

The Honda Accord Euro (Acura TSX) is one of the most stylish and well rounded vehicles in the lower premium midsize sedan market. Its combination of chiselled good looks, refined and fuel-efficient powertrains, high-quality finish and craftsmanship, and extensive standard features list makes it a winner in the eyes of most new car buyers.

The latest version of the car was only introduced late last year but we already have a number of details including a preview sketch of the next model due in 2011. This will be the eighth generation of the popular nameplate, and if this sketch is anything to go by it will be the most aggressive and sportiest version yet.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, where this image was sourced, the new Accord Euro will adopt more coupe-like styling, with short overhangs front and rear, and a very high waistline. The front-end will retain the broad look of the current model but will be positioned closer to the ground for a more aggressive look.

The current 2.4L four-cylinder petrol engine should carry over as well as the six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. New, however, could be a range topping ‘Type-S’ model with a 2.3L turbocharged petrol engine with 260hp (194kW) mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and Super Handling AWD powertrain. Let’s hope that the U.S.-spec Acura TSX will also get this exciting performance option.

Cool, but as with any of these sketches/predictions, I'll wait and see before passing judgement.

That's full of it. At best 2011 is MMC not a new generation. Are you sure someone from here didn't write that?

That looks like an artists rendering of the existing gen prototype.

Looks like a thousand other designer doodles. Love the grille though. Looks like the pre-overbite RL grille, but with a bit more definition to it.

I'm pretty sure this sketch is of what became the current model. The art looks like a comic book version of the current car. Compare:

I think the grill and headlights look too closely related for the concept art to represent a new model. The concept in general is regressive if new. It reminds me of pre-Sports 4 concept art and looks inspired by last generation Mazdas.

Also, what is the point of drawing on wheels that will never ever be stock? Who does that benefit?

2011? I'll believe it when I see it.

It does look nice, but a little big I think.

Also not so sure they'll drop the power plenum so soon. They seem pretty adamant about shoving it down our throats even after so much criticism of it.

could really are less of the exterior. i want that engine (with more power than my current rdx) and awd in a sedan platform. this is my next car. i have always speculated the current 2.3t is capable of 260hp & 280tq with minor tweaks from the factory. put it ina a car that will prolly be 3500lbs with shawd and we have a winnar.

To be fair, there isn't really a 2WD automatic transmission that can handle the torque of the diesel.

Bottom line: That artist's rendered drawing looks better than the current 09 Lineup IMHO.

But....the TSX is getting the J35 280hp V6 this summer, it would be odd to "downgrade" to the K23t with only 260hp for the next gen. I have to call BS on this, unless the next TSX really ends up being based on the Civic and can get away with a "less is more" approach. Oh, and I like the New TSX style, I think it's one of the nicer looking luxury cars on the road and definitely the best looking Acura. And that's coming from the proud owner of a 1st gen TSX.
