I know in the MN region, a $299 montly lease was offered for the non tech, and I am not sure of the up front cost (my memory says $2500). Think of your offer this way, you are paying $16K for the life of the contract, or a 50% depreciation rate in 3 years. In normal times, the TSX depreciation would be in the 35% to 40% of MSRP. Right now, you can get a TSX tech for $29K. If you have the money, or even with financing, I would think you would do better by buying the vehicle outright and trading it in when you want to. I know that Acura is offereing a $750 rebate right now as well. Also - you would not be limited to the mileage. If you have any type of trade in, depending on the state, you can offset your taxes.

All said, enjoy the car, even at the lease you have agreed to.

i would have to agree with this guy. if you buy the car at 30k out the door and put like $5k down, you can finance the remaining $25k at 5% over 60 months for $471/month. acuras hold their value fairly well, so you'll probably never be upside down on the loan, and you will own the car after 5 years. you won't have to watch your mileage (12k/yr isn't really that much), and you'll be able to mod it and do whatever you want with it.

to me, leasing makes sense if it's significantly less than buying, and if you prefer to drive more expensive cars without worrying about maintenance 3+ years down the road. in your case, you're not really saving much, and at the end of your 3 years, you're going to either turn the car in or have the option to buy it for like $15k. if you tried to get a 24 month loan for that remainder, you'd be paying like $700/month to pay off the rest of the car in those 5 years.

i'd lease a BMW 335i coupe or something...but not a TSX.

my $0.02.

Sounds ok to me. I drive too many miles so leasing does not work for me

The problem here is that you're discounting the opportunity cost of that $4,000 difference in initial outlay. Plus, not everyone drives so much that 10k or 12k miles a year is too little.

As many times as we have this discussion on AcuraZine, we always come to the same conclusion. Leasing works for some and not for others. It's a personal decision about preferences in spending and length of ownership of a car as well as individual driving habits.
