Seriously!? Hail Damage

So basically yesterday there was an un-forcasted hail storm in Silver Spring, Maryland. I have never even experiend a hail in MD before. Anyways, I was out on lunch and all the sudden it hails dime to quarter sized ice. I then think about the post someone else made tsx club on about severe hail damage on their car, and try to think of the nearest parking garage. However, I then doubt myself in to thinking the hail is not serve enough to damage the car. Long story short, I ended up leaving the car outside and there are now dings all over the roof, trunk, hood, and chrome trim around the windows.

Does anyone know or think how much it would cost to remove the hail dings? Luckily, no windows broke and it only damaged the metal. My insurance deductible is $500. I've tried to Google it, some some sites are suggesting DIY kits. Do they work?

Sorry to hear about that bro. My buddy had his brand new bimmer 3-series convertible hailed on and it wasn't pretty. My old Integra also got it bad. Just pay the $500 deductible and let insurance deal with it. It's going to be a lot more than $500 cause presumably all your panels are affected. I've heard of people DIY'ing small door dings with a blow dryer and compressed air but I'm pretty sure none of those tricks work.

i've done the blowdryer and compressed air trick, it does work! no sarcasm. i wouldn't likely put in the time for all those dings though. me and a buddy of mine did it on the bumper of his altima. someone hit the drivers side rear corner and left a dent larger than a soft ball directly in the corner. we used compressed air and a blowdryer and a bit of muscle to push it out. once to get thebig dent to come out, and a second time to get the small one out. its also logical by physics. heat expands the molecules and makes them more maleable, then compressed air cools it to tighten it into place. when you apply muscle from the other side, it goes to the right shape

If the DIY kits you're talking about involve a suction cup...fuggetaboutit. Those things are fine if you have a human body size dent in the trunk of your 81 Monte Carlo, then, yes, it will pull it closer to where it was. Other than that...sheeeit.

I would try the Dent Wizard guys, Google them. ANYTHING to prevent body filler & paint. Sorry to hear about the damage, that would make me want to eat an Egg McMagnum.

That sucks. Pay the deductible and let the insurance handle it. Then, sell it and buy another one.

My TSX had some pretty bad hail damage 2 years ago. I had it repaired with Paintless dent repair. They did a fantastic job. I have a $500 deductible too, but to my surprise this repair came under my comprehensive coverage. That deductible is only $250.

I had a dime size dent on my 2011 TSX. A Paintless Dent Removal guy at the local body shop fixed it in 15 minutes. He opened the hood and removed a little of the fabric sound proofing. He took a mirror with wavy lines and erased the dent slowly with a tool. Reattached the fabric, and I'm gone. They didn't even record the VIN for a CarFAX report.

If you go Dentless, count the number of dings and figure about $50 a piece to fix.

Thanks, I be calling my insurance this week. I will probably just get it estimated beforehand, and yes I was talking about the suction thing. But, I also figured it might not work because they are little dings. There are probably 10-20 little dings randomly spread out.

I agree go with PDI repair my 2000 Civic was in a Golf ball size hail storm and they took all of them out and you could not even tell. Unfortunately 3 days after the repair a tornado totaled the car

Sorry to hear, Man. That sucks. The threat of hail in the entire DC/Baltimore area for Sunday had been forecasted for the 48-hour period leading up to the storms. For future reference, listen to WTOP radio at 103.5FM. They have weather every 10 minutes starting at :09 after each hour. I made an effort to ensure both of my cars were garaged yesterday (I live in the Columbia, MD area). Good luck w/ the repair.

lol. I didn't know 'weather' to laugh or feel remorse. Sorry for your loss though.

As for getting it repaired it doesn't look so good. Like some of the other forum members I'm 18 and starting college next week. I would have to save some money to get it fixed. ...I got in to an accident a month ago and my parents will not pay for both repairs.
However, now my mom is suggesting to file a claim to Acura for using "bad" materials/ metal? Her accord was parked right next to my car that day and has no damage. My sisters Scion also had no damage from the hail.

Call your insurance company, & take it to your local Acura dealer. It’s a comprehensive claim so it doesn't count against you like a collision. I just had my TL repaired, it cost @ $2,000.00 to repair.

Unless there are chips in the paint, the way to go is PDR. I have had to use it a couple of Hailish times and I cannot say enough about how great it worked. Now, this would be main body dents but if you have dings in the trim or other plastic then PDR won't work.

You really don't want body shop work where filler and paint are used.

Good luck.
