Hey, just wanted you guys opinion on something. I know probably asked a million times but. Currently I have an RV6 downpipe and a diy short ram. I just ordered a Tanabe Medalian, injen cai and a Hondata flash pro. I'm kinda stuck on the test pipe vs high flow cat rn. Either one would be RV6. Leaning toward the hfc. Not to worried about pass g emission cuz I'm going to swap everything back for testing. And fuck the earth don't really care bout pollution ( joking.. but not really joking I turn the water off when brushing my teeth .. and recycle so that's pretty good). Probably will go with the hfc just wanted opinions. Thanks

 

I ran my RV6 Test pipes for 3 years with not one issue. Testpipe "gives you a few more ponies" and is less likely to fail you, If you're worried about emission then I'd suggest HFC, otherwise no need to pay extra for
HFC. Their test pipe comes with defoulers so you get no code so you should be fine for inspection and won't need to throw stock parts back on ( god knows i never did)

Yeah thing with the rv6 downpipe is i get some rasp around 3000 rpm. I was thinking the the testpipe might make that worse?

 

it may....
but that only encourages more modding!!!

you can quell the rasp by hacking up the stock exhaust and adding long resonators.
or buy an aftermarket exhaust.
i had major rasp for like 2 years...due to being catless. then i bought the rv6 exhaust (2006 acura TL) and no more rasp!

 

I have a Tanabe Medalian coming next week. Should probably help. Okay I think I may go test pipe then🤗

FWIW when I had my RV6 downpipe with stock 2nd cat and stock catback, the rasp was horrendous at around 3k. However, after I installed my GReddy catback the rasp is basically "gone". So it might work out the same for you, OP. However, I say "gone", because the exhaust is a bit loud. My buddy with cats and a GReddy catback sounds a bit quieter and tamer. Good luck!

Worst case, you can chop up the catback and put in a long resonator like Justin said! Many in the "official" RV6 thread have put in a big Vibrant resonator in their stock catback and mentioned great success in curing the rasp.

 

The aftermarket exhaust mufflers must be doing their job, cuz on first start up I was surprised. I expected rasp to be still there

 

Yeah. I'll post a before and after video probably next weekend if i have the parts by then.
