Replaced floor mats with WeatherTech

I had Acura all weather floor mats provided when I bought my 2009 TSX. Thankfully, the dealer provided them for free because my driver side wore out in less than 1 year.

I have a manual 6 speed transmission and the wear was all by my left heel. Since most of the time (5 days a week), I have hard soled shoes, this mat just wasn't designed (IMHO) to support the added use of the clutch (and normal work shoes).

Anyway, here's a few pics of the mat (old) and the new WeatherTech ones (really like the new WeatherTech design as well)

Original mat with hole/wear:

Replaced with WeatherTech mat:

You can get a better idea of the two mats (WeatherTech on left):

The WeatherTech set came with passenger one as well and I liked the improved coverage:

And with the recent "winter" weather we've had in Dallas the last few weeks, having these mats (they have much deeper sides) was much improved for keeping the slush and melting snow/dirt off the carpets.

I like the floor mats! I would never have imagined those mats to wear down to form a hole.

On a side note, I'm from Plano too!

wow! I have the all-season mats from acura in my 06 tsx-they still look excellent after almost 3 years. Keep us updated on how the well the weathertech mats hold up.

damn, too bad you got a hole in them or id ask you for a price lol

i am mat shopping right now as a matter of fact waiting for a decent priced set of all weathers to pup up on ebay. The only problem i have with the weather tech mat, which looks awesome btw, is that i plan to do a sport pedal conversion and the weather tech mat covers part of the dead pedal =/

still weighing options though..

Would have been happy to give them to you...but I was so disappointed with the hole, I just threw them in the garbage!

Good luck with your refit and quest on eBay

Weathertech mats looks amazing. I was thinking about buying them but they price was just too much of a difference. I then found a decent price on Acura oem all weather mats for 90 shipped. I thought the OEM mats were very durable but after looking at these pics they worry me lol.

Those WatherTechs look beyond nice...
I'm really liking them, but not the price lol.

Does anybody else have that problem with the OEM ones?

I think the WeatherTech Digital Fit liners are the best out there. I have them (front and rear) in my crew cab truck and they are phenominal. They fit and look great out of the box, and they clean easily (hose off and wipe down). It's a great product.

As for the price...you're in a $30k auto right? What's another $200 to save your carpet. Just my $.02

Firstly, what did you do with all-weather mat? left foot only?
Secondly, the WeatherTech ones are beautiful, better coverage, absolutely great for snow or muddy weather, however, it's costly. Don't know how much you got but it's almost $170 or $180 for whole set, everywhere on the net.
Thirdly, with the WeatherTech, how long would it last before you make another hole?

The front pair cost $99, so I felt that was extremely good value. And after getting the mats and seeing the construction and fit, all I can say is they are well worth the price!

I have the weathertechs on an AT. I commute is maybe 10-15 min each way. I also wear dress shoes with hard soles. I noticed that the plastic grain pattern has worn in the area I rest my right heel from my sole or all the salt/sand that gets ground down in that area.

I think no matter what, they're going to get worn down and scuffed up but its much better having that protection than having nothing at all.

On another note, I used to drive an '02 accord and I bought some super heavy duty rubber floormats for it from Walmart. They had really deep channels and felt more rubbery than the weathertechs. They've held up really well, in fact, I use the weathertechs in the winter and put the heavy duty rubber ones in during the summer. I think they're going on 6-7 years old. The reason why I dont use the rubber ones year round is that its not a perfect fit like the weathertechs and don't offer complete carpet protection from salt.

I have the same problem with Acura all weather mat. Mine has two holes on it, they cost C$200 for a set of 4 from the dealer and they won't sell just the driver side replacement only.

I will in Arlington next month during spring break with my kids, so will try to pick up a set from an Acura dealer in Virginia for around $100.

My OEMs still look brand new. Then again, I live in the south and I have a 0.7mile one way commute to work

My car really hasn't even seen any snow or salt, with the exception of a few days.

Weathertechs are great! I've had them on my last 3 cars...so much better made than anything else I can find out there. Yes they are expensive, but if you really want to take care of your floors, these are the ones to go with.

One thing I don't like about these, and its not really their fault, is the opening for the gas pedal. Since the pedal is mounted to the floor, water and gunk still gets past the mat. I wish the car had a normal hanging pedal so that there was no opening to let crap get underneath. These mats are even better on a car where the sides are closed all the way around!

...and I only bought the front this time. Last 2 times I bought the full set, but I don't carry anyone in the back either, so I skipped out this time around. I have the factory rubber ones in the back.

Same here, 2 1/2 years and I have a big hole and I have an auto. I also have the Acura auto start and that is crap too, they have the worst accessories.

+1 I've got them in both my cars and they've been perfect for this awful winter. They catch all the sand, snow, dirt, etc and the tall sides keep everything contained. I'm very glad we splurged for them b/c I would hate to see what my regular mats would look like after all the crud that's been thrown at us this winter.

I only have the front pair and it doesn't look weird at all. My car is used primarly for hauling me to/from work so the likelihood of there being people in the back is slim to none.

additional: I bought them used from another member that sold their tsx. Paid $40.00 for them-excellent investment.

+1 I went the same way and share your thoughts. In my situation, the back rarely has passengers, so leaving the stock Acura all weather mats in the back was fine. The extra $70 to get the back Weathertech set wasn't worth it for me. However, if you have constant passengers in the back, the added protection of the Weathertechs in the back would be good.

damnit...the decision is so hard... especially cuz i dont wanna spend the extra 70$ for minimal use, but at the same time its like i really really hate knowing that things in my car arent uniform/symmetrical.

also FU to the op for giving me another expense

Nice, a fellow Weather Tech person. I bought these when I first bought my car back in Dec 08 and till now, they are still fine. I love how it just collects all the dirt in which you can take out as a tray.

I have less than 15,000 km and the acura mats are pretty much worn. I thnik the material is not made to sustain abrasion. I was thinking of gluing a second layer of plastic on top of the worn area this summer. I did not know that weathertech makes mats for our cars! I am just wondering if they will last longer than a year, given that they are quite thin. Any input n the resistance of the weathertechs?

Thats some MAJOR Heel Toe action to cause that wear in the mats!

I drive an automatic. I think the material from which the mats are made has very poor abrasion resistance. When I take my car in for the #@$##$ noise, I will see if Acura will cover this under warranty, since I purchased the mats at the same time as the car.

What's most disappointing is how quickly this mat wore out given that I don't drive that much. The wear started to develop at around 5K miles and by 10K (less than one year) it had the hole.

I'm of the same opinion as TSXV6GUY... the material is designed poorly. Its generally made of soft rubber material and not hardened or reinforced in the areas of obvious use (eg. where the heel rests). And definitely worth asking Acura service to replace when you have your car in... I had mentioned this to my service guy and he offered to replace it for free next time in... but just decided the weathertech was a better design all around and was worth the money.

please keep us updated on how the weathertech mats are doing. I average between 25,000-30,000 miles a year so the Acura all-season mats get a good workout without any notices of wear and tear (knock-on-wood)

like a glove. they sent us the wrong driver side one for my husband's car and you could tell immediately that it was for the wrong model. they do a great job making them match the exact shape of the car make/model.
