Quick question on front bumper removal

Hey Guys- first post here, but have been reading and lurking since I picked up my 2012 TSX-Tech V4 about 3 months ago. I have some IJDMToy 6000k bulbs and the LED DRL kit to install tonight, and I just had a quick question about removing the front bumper.

I have read the thread several times regarding taking off the bumper (8 clips on top, 12 on bottom, 1 screw in each fenderwell).. But I was curious if I had to remove the ENTIRE bumper since I only need access to the bolts below each headlight assembly to remove them and install my 6000k low beams.

Is it possible to just take off the top 8 clips, each screw on the side, and then just pull each corner of the bumper out enough in order to access the headlight assembly blots? Or do I need remove the 12 clips underneath and physically remove the entire bumper as well?

Just trying to make this job as simple as possible... Also, I have a massive fear of not being able to get the bottom clips back into the bumper and liner correctly.

ANY help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

thew underneath are just the push in type like the uppers

what is tricky is near the fender seam are 3 snap clips and then under the headlight too. you need to sort of lift the bottom of the bumper outward...sort of a lift and pull and the ones under the headlight will pop out.

point is that just taking off the top and bottom will not help.

Okay- thanks man.. That's kinda what I was guessing. I wasn't sure if it was possible to just take out the top 8 and only partially pull out the ends of the bumper to access the headlight housings.

It would make things a lot easier if I didn't have to get under the car.. Lol.

The way this guy just removed the bumper ends is what got me thinking:

With the ends pulled out he easily has access to the bolts around the actual headlight housing to remove them. So this is definitely not possible, right? Lol.

One last stupid question.. I don't need to jack the car up to get to the clips underneath right?

Otherwise this will become a much more annoying project, lol.

you don't NEED to jack it up...just makes it easier...the clips are a pain to get loose...requires 2 screwdrivers to pry the inner circle out.

Thanks bro- good to know. Thankfully I picked up one of these clip removers- similar to the ones from Heel-Toe, just cost a few bucks less. I already tried them on a few lips and it worked like a charm:

Amazon Amazon

I'll finish the install tomorrow night hopefully.

One last bit of advice... if you do decide to jack up the car, make sure the bumper has something to land on after it's removed. The fogs are still connected and the wires aren't that long!

Definitely good advice bro.. The last thing someone needs is a scratched up or knicked up bumper from falling a few feet.

I'm gonna continue to give it a go without jacking the car up.. Hoping for the best when I tackle it later.

it can be done without jacking. like MrO says get an old quilt or something soft and large to lay it on while you undo the fog wires.
