Hey guys.

I was planning to de-badge the Acura / tsx sign in the back of my car? Is there a specific way to do it or do I just rip that sucker out? Thanks!

1. Heat emblem with blow dryer or heat gun
2. Remove emblem with dental floss
3. "Goo Gone" the remaining, sticky residue
4. Clean area with alcohol

I just did mine last weekend.

  • Just use dental floss, no heating.
  • Rub the remaining goo off with your fingers.
  • After that there will be lines left in the paint from where dirt has etched the outline of the emblem into the paint. You'll need to hit that with a mild rubbing compound and swirl mark remover. Apply with a clean microfiber and buff it till its perfectly clean.
  • Apply wax to protect the fresh paint
My trunk turned out flawless, you can't tell there were ever emblems there.

Goo gone and alcohol are bad for your paint and will attack the clear coat.

I also did mine last week. I just let my car sit outside for 30 minutes since it was hot to warm up the adhesive. Looks way cleaner without all that clutter :P

Agreed with the above. Only thing is I like 3m adhesive remover and a MF towel. I've done the finger technique, and ended up with blisters. Not fun.

Also, assuming you've got all the adhesive off, I wouldn't use a mild rubbing compound... Just some light polish should clean it up nicely. I used some Menzerna PO85rd Micro Polish and it worked perfectly.

I have removed badges on all my cars, going to do the TSX when it hits 90deg in NYC and when I happen to be detailing the car.

Deff no need for alcohol, I usually hit the area with 3M fine rubbing compound to get it nice and smooth, then do a full detail of the panel, to make sure you remove any fine scratches and seal the paint with a sealer. Looks 1million times better cleaned up.

Hey guys. First off, thanks gain for the tips. I actually removed the badges this weekend and it looks clean! However, it took me forever with a hair dryer.. and rubbing the adhesive off was a bitch! >.< Then I had my little brother do the rest =) (so cruel, but I got him another xbox 360 game, haha!)

Thanks again!

Uh, why?

But anyway, you would probably be better off ordering new ones if you want them. Or, you could buy some 3M VHB (very high bond) tape at an auto body supply shop and stick it to the back of the emblems.

I seriously doubt you'd be able to get them off in one piece.

In my change tray at the house I have Altima SE-R, Civic Si, FJ TRD SE and TSX alphabet soup.
