out with the old, in with the new

It's a little bittersweet, but I finally made the decision to trade my 07 TSX NBP 6SPD MT w NAVI for a 2014 SE AT. I got a lot of heat for this from the old schoolers and will miss my black beauty but the decision was best for my individual circumstances.

It's been a long time since I've posted on here and have modded my 07 based on users and info from this site alone and for that I'm greatful. I'm done with the modding game since I have more pressing financial matters (a 4yr old) but I'm officially a 2nd gen owner and look forward to the advice and expertise from the best forum in the world.

I can definitley feel the difference in the weight, along with the handling but I drive a lot more conservatively nowadays, especially now that I have an auto. I like the wider frame on the 2nd gen and the overall aesthetics finally grew on me, but I still think the manual on the 1st gen is one of the best hondas ever made.

Welcome to the CU2 club!

Interested to hear your thoughts on the difference between both cars (other than the auto vs manual) whenever you get enough time driving the CU2.

And ignore those old schoolers. The kids in here will take their place!

I was already set on getting an automatic after my last TSX because living in L.A. and driving in traffic 24/7 has taken it's toll on my patience lol. I also need to do a lot more multi tasking now that my son is in his terrible 4's so it makes it eaiser. I do miss that honda rev though, especially in my 07. I also 'personally' feel the chasi design, weight distribution, and overall feel of a manual in the 1st gen was just perfect. I test drove the 6MT on the CU2 and it just didn't feel as tight and clean like my 07. Maybe it's the weight and size of the CU2, or maybe I just haven't had enough time, but either way, I was set on an AT and I was set on a TSX, so for me, my CU2 SE is my perfect fit

Welcome! I'm sure you'll grow to love the 2G, whether it be for the same reasons as the 1G or not.

If you ever convince yourself to spend a couple of bucks, get a Progress RSB to tighten her up a little

I definitley feel my 1st gen was a lot sportier and compact while my CU2 feels more comfortable and "luxurious". My 07 did have some mods like Tein SS coilovers, 18" HFP wheels. It also had navi which I do miss along with the voice activation....or maybe I was just spoiled for the last 7 yrs

The design of the 2nd gen took a really long time to grow on me. I kind of look at it now as the more grownup mature version which to me, means less modding needed. It really stands great the way it is.

Thanks for the warm welcomes! As I don't really feel the need to mod this whip, I would like some suggestions on some nice and subtle 'accents' that don't require too much time/money/effort but could still make her stand out from the rest

I put the progress rear sway bar on mine... best upgrade imo. Also maybe black out the chrome grille?

I made a similar swap last year, and definitely regret buying a 2nd gen TSX. They're two completely different cars, and I still miss my gently modded 05. As soon as I can talk my wife into taking my 010, it's goodbye Acura. This is just my experience though, and good luck with your new car. It will probably be a better fit for your lifestyle now.

I own a 2009 TSX and I am finding my 3 yr old barely has enough legroom in the back with his convertible car seat. How is the space working for your 4 yr old? I am considering trading the TSX in for a RDX to give little one more room and to stop him from hitting the console and the backseats with his long legs. Drives me nuts!!!

The RDX only has a tiny bit more room though. But then again i've only ridden in the first gen turbo one.

You and I have much in common

I also have a 4 year old and just sold my modded 6 speed 03 RSX-S to purchase a 12 TSX BWP SE (Auto). I miss the RSX-S dearly. The TSX isn't anywhere near as fun to drive, but I do love it for how quiet and comfortable it is. It also took awhile for the 2nd gen TSX styling to grow on me.
