Okay...It's time...

Im Stuck in a rut.
A rut between the Acura TSX and Accord Coupe.

I'm 16, and My family ONLY owns Acura's and Honda's. I was given a choice between the TSX and Accord coupe.. and honestly I don't know what to do...

I've always wanted the TSX...But I test drove an Accord Coupe today, and I love it.

I need help on my decision... I think alot of you may have also looked at the Accord Coupe!

Help me out here!

Thanks in advance!

Funny, I wouldn't be caught dead in a sedan at your age. Now, it's like sedans are 'pimp' or whatever.

Get a coupe now. When you get older and have kids you'll have to get a sedan.

I love them both. The Accord Coupe is really hot. But at 16, with friends piling in and out of the car, 2 doors is going to get annoying. Unless maybe you won't have more than one person in your car at a time. LOL, I don't know. I like 'em both.

Sedan= Designated driver (not that you should be drinking at your age) or getting used by chicks for a ride (it won't get you anywhere with them, really).

Coupe= you and a wing-person, or a person of the opposite sex.

I've been there with a coupe and its cool initially, but after awhile, you get tired of the ride moochers. Get a coupe, or a 2 seater. Make it annoying to sit in the back seat.

Additionally, the Accord is an obviously hot car at that age, while the TSX is just a little too mature.

Yes, and fortunately for me, it's i-VTEC slow luxury. When I'm driving it, I have nothing to prove, keeps tickets at a minimum. Just plop in & cruise.

when i was 17, i got the TSX. I always wanted a coupe and probably will get one when I graduate next year. I bought a TSX right now cause despite me paying for my car, parents still have that ruling hand and they are not fond of coupes, well not my dad lol.

Of course, with four more doors you get to fit more girls! comfortably. and of course they will be in awe with your leather seats, the cool nav lol. Just don't do anything stupid or reckless.

Are you considering the V6 coupe or the 4cyl. It's really hard to say. I love having four doors and my wife has a TSX as well so I could have purchased anything I wanted. I looked at the Civic Si coupe and sedan and thought it was really cheap inside. I looked at the Accord coupe and liked the interior of the TSX more then the Accord. The Accord seems so....old. Even in the coupe form. I see more people in my age group driving Accord coupes then I do young people.

If someone told me I could do it all over again I would still take the TSX.

At the end of the day it's going to be what you enjoy driving more and what fits with your lifestyle.

Good luck.

My only thing against the coupes are not having hid's... and i dont want to have to install them later on.
All-in-all...
I think i have made my decision.. I want the TSX.

I'm just gonna get a CAI and RJ wheels.

Thanks for your input... The civics look really cheap either way, IMO.

I talked it over with my Family,

and I think it would be smartest to get a tsx.

I've been talking to an Acura dealer for a few months now, and the only reason why I test drove today, is because our accord is in for maintenance.

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it!

'09 Accord Coupe all the way.

I was actually cross shopping the TSX and the Accord Coupe V6 6MT. But I couldn't find a Coupe V6 6MT to test drive within 200 miles of me, so I gave up... that and I at the time already owned 3 coupe's. So I decided to grow up a bit and get a TSX. But I have to say the Accord Coupe with the HFP lip kit is by far the sexiest vehicle I've ever seen with an "H" badge on it.

You are 16, get a coupe.

You're just making it easier for your friends to mooch rides by giving them dedicated doors.

IMO, anyone with a car at 16 is going to get asked for rides. I don't really think it matters how many doors. And past high school, you don't really have to worry about this so much anyway. Just get what you like the most!

Exactly. Trust me when I say, you don't want to be the all time DD.

And more doors for chicks? Biggest fallacy ever. I honestly used to laugh at dudes that were driving cars that we're filled with chicks. You aren't getting with em; you're their driver for the night, LOL.

If a girl gets into a coupe with you, its a one on one experience. I'm not saying it will get you anywhere, but at least you get a better chance to talk to them.

...and as a disclaimer, this isn't the only reason to get the coupe. There is more room for your stuff with the hatchback, its a younger looking car, and most of the stuff you can do to a TSX engine, you'll be able to do to the K24 in an accord.

True, however, I must note:

1. In HS, you'll be asked for rides, but to appear less like a taxi is a good thing. its your gas, your mileage, your interior that'll be used.

2. At that age, I would say having the ability to give a bunch of people rides is very much a liability. not only in the facetious "fill the car with chicks" thing I've been talking about, but a bunch of kids in a car is never ever a good thing. Its very distracting. The less people the better.

All kidding aside, its more its important to get what you like, but thinking like a parent, I would probably guide my child to get the coupe.

Or, like I'll do to my daughter, I'll give her no choice and have her drive what will be a 14 year old TSX....with the rear seats taken out and a gas tank that will never be filled to more than a quarter tank, so she can't get far.

In some states its illegal to have people other than family in the car with you at 16 anyways. So why get 4 doors? I agree completely with CarbonGray Earl on all of his points. Get the coupe, you'll be glad you did. A 4-door is a total cock-block at that age... LOL

If I was 16, I'd get a accord coupe 6MT. It looks great stock and there will always be mods to put on. As you get older, your chances of getting a coupe gets lower and lower because of space, family, etc.

Yeah friends will still want rides even if it's a coupe but they will have to suffer. Their windows wont roll down, they'll have to wait for you to get out, they'll bump their heads on the door frame and likely press their head against the headliner. If you fill the backseat with a lot of fast food wrappers and swety gym clothes you won't get many solicitations for rides.

Just a little.

Would it look weird if I were chopping sausage with a large butcher knife when I get introduced to anyone dating her?

sad but true.

Even worse? You're driving, your best friend is riding in back between 2 girls. Might as well make a magnetic taxi sign for your car and start charging them.

Sounds like a plan then.

OP, good luck with your (parents) purchase. Either way, your a lucky kid, and you'll have a good time in either car.

I got a coupe, crashed a coupe. Coupe days are over for me. But to be honest, get the car you like the most. If you don't want to be a taxi, you could just make it really uncomfortable to ride in your car so they don't come back. That is, get the front seats as far back as you can so they get no leg room. In other words, be a douche >_>...

Lol at the Chick stuff.

I'm pretty outspoken so I doubt people will "beg" for a ride, I hate to hurt feelings but I will haha...

Anyways, TSX is what I'm getting.

Like I said, thanks for all your help.

the chick thing was a joke. even back in high school, i rarely even gave people rides despite friends wanting to mooch off me. It was just a liability in my mind. only friends i gave rides to was my ex, or my best friend and we would switch on and off.

the good thing about now, its always only me haha, the seats stay new and smells new!

in any other situation..i would pick the tsx over the accord coupe. But just due to your young age, I am gonna say accord coupe. It will be more "you." TSX is better car though overall ...i havent seen the accord coupe make any top 10 lists this year..

hey man. im 16 too(turning 17 on thrusday!) so i know excatly what ur going through. and with people said about the rides, reli, they gonna ask u for ride no matter how many doors u have. even if u have one door they'll ask u for a ride. so dont even worry about that. haha
and i think u shuold test drive both and see which car u like the 'feel' of, cuz when i first drove the tsx, it felt a bit werid (switching from an 02 civic) but i got used to it and now loving it.
and IMO i think the accord coupe looks pretty good, but i think u should compare the two cars liek this(in no orders)
1. the feel.
2. the look.
3. interior.
4.quality.
5. anyhting else u feel concern about

and good luck. and if u do decide to get the TSX. keep us posted with pics!

Okay!

But i get alot of this here in North Carolina. --

"The TSX is a girls car" - Says the male JETTA driver.

I've heard the same about accord coupe, but my car wont be a girls car or boys car..It's gonna be MY Car.
