ok i known this is all over the forum like bird crap, but all of you know about the grille, some say paintmatch it for sporty, better looks. some say that'd make it look cheap and a look-alike of a camry. some say leave chrome for luxury feel, some say its way too much.
i am having a very hard time to decide, i tend to jump around on both sides. somedays i'd be dying to paintmatch it, somedays i'd be like, oh its not too bad, what if it looks bad when i paint match it.
so, this is just another thread to hear what you guys suggest lol. orginally i was gonna have it done this summer, seeing how nice derren's blacked out grille looks. but at the same time, i saw some grigio's that looks nice in certain angle, but so so on some. maybe pictures dont make it look right, thats why i need opinions

Your stock grille looks great, just keep it. Unless you want to swing $400 to Marcus to get a replica Modulo grille complete with A emblem, the stock grille works well with your car colour.

+1. I think the color matching cheapens it. Stock or Modulo are the ways to go.
Like others have said, I agree that paint-match looks best on black but at the end of the day it is up to you.
I myself, actually contacted a bodyshop a few weeks ago about getting it done on my CBP but they never got back to me. The more and more I look at the grill it does kind of grow on you to give you that luxury appeal... I guess maybe I'm looking for reasons now not to do it now, but I'll probably follow up with them sometime this week for an estimate (or eventually haha).
On a sidenote: it's interesting that owners from other Acura models are chiming in saying that the grill looks good on the 2G TSX. On that note, from a 2G TSX owner perspective, I think the grill looks very nice on the 2010 MDX and RDX's.

I'm not just saying this because mine is paint matched and I have CBP, but after seeing other colors paint matched, I think black executes it the best. Grigio is a close 2nd. It looks terrible on white.
I'd leave it alone too. If you had CBP however, I'd tell you otherwise.

I find it funny that the modulo grill looks a lot like the old Acura grill on the previous gen TL (to me at least). Maybe Acura should offer two griles on the TSX, like Mercedes and Hyundai have done.
hondu, I agree with your assessment.
Although they do offer the Sports Grille as an option in Asia and Europe, I don't think it's feasible for them to make them for the North America Acura market. Can you imagine trying to make available seven different colour choices for a car only available in North America (annual volume 30K units with maybe a 5-10% opt for the Sports grille). Also, if you look at the thread on the new TSX wagon, the front grille is slightly smaller which if they apply it to the 2011 sedan would make the current grille obsolete.
Acura is also trying to make the new grille as standard across the entire product line.

and the H grille looks great. its just i dont wanan do a all aroudn honda conversion, nor do i want a H in front and A in back. seems tacky to me
(even if they are same company)
When you have two kids under the age of 10, being tacky is actually a compliment

Just thought it was somewhat ironic. With all of the bad press about Acura's change in style, I think over time they will refine the look and it will gain more acceptance. Out of all their changes, the only design that really turns me off was the new TL (of course some colors are better than others).
Yeah, I knew they would never offer two grilles, especially with trying to establish the new style across their entire line-up. It also flies in the face of their philosophy (high content, few options, not much customization), where Honda/Acura lets the aftermarket/dealers provide a lot of customization.

New TL may not look the best but it is an absolute pleasure to drive. My mom has one and I take it out every chance I get. It handles like a beast (sh-awd) and 300hp is nothing to complain about either. Interior is gorgeous, amazing sound system, LOUD engine, comfier seats etc.etc. I may replace my TSX with it some day..
I think that if you're going to paintmatch the grille, you have to compliment it with some other aggressive, aftermarket mods.
I forget where, but I remember there was a CBP TSX posted a few months ago with a paintmatched grille...but that was it. It looked out of place. The grille looked good, but as an entire package the car looked off. It's like a Chrysler 300C with one of those cheap vertical grilles without rims to compliment it. Or an Escalade with an aftermarket grille on stock rims.
This idea of the stock rims f'ing everything up is even more imperative on the CU2 TSX where, imo, the stock rims are too small and have too high of an offset. It's like a bobble head. Giant bodywork, small wheels.
In it's stock form, the car looks okay. But if you're gonna paintmatch that grille, I suggest also lowering the car on a new set of wheels to finish the entire thing off.
TL;DR: Get new wheels/go lower if you're going to paintmatch the grille.

Ed, no matter how hard you've been bit by the mod bug, heres some advice that helped me out since I am in a similar situation as you.
1) There's no rush to get things done
2) Think up a reasonable goal of what you want your car to look like as a finished product. I know some people say that one's car is "never finished," but I know guys like you and are on a financial budget. Thus, take into consideration your income and envision a realistic goal and make a list. Then prioritize your list and simply move down. Thats what I started doing and its worked out great lol. Some things on the list will take longer because they are more expensive and require more saving, but in the end its a pretty efficient way of getting things done.
Just some insight into the way I think....basically be organized.

thats kinda what i've been doing. i've been saving up money and putting a little bit aside for the car. and you are right, im in no rush of mods no matter how hard the mod bug bites. but i just saved enough to have my grille paintmatched for the summer, and now that its time, i dont konw if i should do it or not
but thanks for the advice!
