My cousin TSXkid2010 brought me here.
I'm not good at this so bare with me Lol My parents bought me a car recently which is SALVAGED and so it has been at the shop for almost 2 weeks already and will be done next Thursday, hopefully. Nothing wrong with the engine/sounds good. Frame work been replaced/body looking good and the damages I seen in the car was the right door broken. I do have pictures so you will see what I'm talking about. The moon roof control I think that's what it's called has been removed not sure why and the non ashtray is damaged the owner must been pissed. Lol the hood is slightly off fitment not really a big issue I suppose. Everything will be replaced and repaired. Second of all. IDK what's written on the title how it got into a wreck. Like I said parents bought it for me. Tsxkid2010 told me that my car cost to much and could have gotten a better car fixed without salvaged. Total cost for the car is $17,000. Out of subject but I told tsxkid that I think the car was new and had that new car smell. He joked the fuck out and said he had 2 friends that got their tsx totaled and airbags deployed that had the new car smell to it. LOL... I might left off a lot of stuff, like I said bare with me. I just want to know some stuff when I get my car and what's the first thing to do with my car. Which will be my 3rd car! Since i just moved to Texas and have to find a job soon if I want to make my baby " Tatsu " look stunning! IF I miss anything out let me know and I will show after pictures when I get the car next week. I am indeed a noob so go easy on me. <3
Right air bag deployed.

Good question. I'm not really sure until I see the car next week. I just got pictures from them, but as soon as I get the car, I'm a ask what caused the damages. But that was a good point to where there was a stain in the roof? But it could just be anything.

Goodbye.
what happened to your first 2 cars?
and did your parents play a joke on you? I agree with your cuz that this car was not worth the money paid.
The damage concerns me a lot.

I had a Honda civic dx which broke down and a 2000 Honda prelude which I sold back to my uncle because I needed the money which was like 2 years ago and now I finally got the TSX which I am waiting for right now. I mean even though reliability won't be most likely 100% ,but everything will be replaced and repaired gaurenteed and hope nothing was wrong with the mechanic as it seems from what my dad told me that the car is smooth and everything? Could be just the frame damage and not the engine?

At Copart, these salvage TSX's go for 6k-11k depending on damage to the car. I know a few guys that buy them and fix them to new condition for 14k-17k. I almost bought a Salvage 2009 Grigio TSX 6MT 55k miles with Tech package for 16k. I did not want to pay cash for it, so I had to look for financing. Took me about a month to find a bank that will finance a salvage car. In California very few banks finance salvage cars and if they do the intrest rate they charge is around 15%.
I did a cost analysis and decided to get one at the dealer instead. I've been looking for a Vortex Blue 6MT with tech pack for over a year and actually found one at the same time I got financed for the Salvage TSX. So I ended up paying the extra 70 bucks a month for a clean title low 17k mile TSX in the color and package preference I wanted with a 100k warranty on it. Sometimes, things work themselves out!

Frame damage can be equally bad, if not worse than engine damage. It's the structure of your vehicle and it takes a professional to make it perfectly aligned. With the unibody construction, just hope only the crumple zones have been bent or that it has been properly fixed.
How many miles is on the car?

Not so sure about buying one that has this much damage. I hope things go smoothly with it. Once you are ready to start modding I am only 30 min away in Dallas

Don't forget to figure in the money you'll lose later at resale. A salvage title stays with a car forever.
Plus there are the costs down the road as you discover issues that rear their ugly head even though you assumed it was all fixed. And then there's the compromise of the safety of the overall structure of the car if you ever get in an accident.
All in all, salvage vehicles should remain where they belong: in the salvage yard. They're great as organ donors but that's it, imho.
Just my opinion, but I'd spend a little extra $$ on something with a clean title and a traceable history despite mileage. And for $17,000 you can pick up decent E46 BMWs etc. that have been well taken care of, and even have some money left over.
But nonetheless, good luck.

yea for 17k you could've gotten a higher mileage tsx with a clean record. did tsxkid not give your parents advice on it before they bought it? is it too late to back out? sigh i dunno...
i'm confused too...front looks fine...nothing there that would indicate the airbags would need to be deployed and yet both airbags went off...what the hell happened that caused them to go off??

Yeah the fact that the airbags deployed but I saw no immediate physical damage set off an alarm for me. What I think also could have happened is that the car crashed and the people selling it hastily covered it up physically.

Yeah, I'm guessing this car may have also had some major water damage in addition to other issues. Dallas (where the car appears to have originated) had some major flooding early in January and then later in March.
That's probably why the moon roof is ripped apart and also the sill where electrical wiring runs. The problem is that water damage with modern cars is a nightmare and can haunt you forever with all sorts of unexpected gremlins. It's not like non-computerized cars of the past where water damaged was pretty much fixed by an upholsterer.
I would take the VIN to a dealer and try to convince them to print out the VMI to reveal the history. Of course, I personally wouldn't touch a salvage title in the first place. Just not worth it in the long run, imho.

Back out of the deal if you can. Even if it costs your parents a few grand it'll be cheaper than this disaster.

guys look on the bright side at least he won't have to worry about ceb telling him his warranty is void from teh mods.

Wow 17K for a re-built title, before I bought my TSX the same dealer had an 09 mint conditions for 17.5K the only reason I didn't buy it cause it had 90k miles, that was the only thing I was like dam 90k miles. But anyways hope everything turns out good after you get it out of the shop.
Only way I would say you got a deal paying 17k if the car was a 2012 model.

so you bought that car for 17,000
and you have to pay more out of pocket to fix the damages? i.e air bags, mis-aligned fender/hood, or any other misc damages?
or is that all inclusive of the 17,000 that you paid?

It was probably at the junk yard for a while and people purchased what they needed.

Sorry for the late delay guys. Since I've moved here I don't have much of a wifi and I'm using an iPhone, so I can't use up to much data, but I acknowledge everyone's opinions and I love what I see from y'alls comments. Tsxkid is right. I bought the car as is, and they are throwing in the repairs for me. So, as soon as everything is done I'll take after pictures and tell y'all how it is to have a SALVAGE TSX ! * wink(; ! PS: sorry if I cant reply much to tell you whats going. I will try my best when I get my car. Since I will know further details.
