illuminated door sills

I've searched and the few threads are super old. Has any companies made them for our cars yet?

yeah i made 2 sets. They are not stainless looking tho. They are carbon fiber vinyl overtop. I want a set of brushed aluminium ones but it'll need to be cnced.

The problem with that is the tight inside radius at the corners of the letters. It's very difficult to get in there on a CNC, especially to keep a sharp intersection.

You might get close with a waterjet, but jigging it up to cut exactly to the edges would take some trial and error and I'm dubious that it would be repeatable enough to do.

Best option is die-punching, but that'll run you a couple thousand to get the dies made.

Which brings us back to CrappyJoe's method...

ya really don't want to pay alot for it. Was even thinking of doing the crappy joe method but wrapping it maybe with brushed aluminum wrap instead...it'll be the closest thing

Sooo I can get them in brushed aluminum, but it's going to be more than $200 (as I just sold my Crappy Joe original for that price). It would be closer to $350 after I take my cut of the profit, and Icrap takes his cut. You see, I know the supplier that can laser cut it for me on the cheap, and Icrap has the supplier that can provide us with the electrical EL tape. (this is no easy task as we found out). Then after shipping.. you come out to be about $350

its a super secret!

But no, really it depends on what your trying to do. For the one I did you need a totally custom size. None of the premade ones are wide enough.

^^ yeah that one, that drove the cost up quite a bit. The Acura logo could be scaled so regular EL tape could work, but then it would probably not look correct across the whole door sill.

The CU2squad is going crazy over the ones I sold right now lol. That's why I stay on that group hahaha

Icrap.. honestly if you offer yours up right now for $250 Im pretty sure someone would buy it!

Let's see some pics of yours. For 350 I don't think there worth it. But that's just me. I had them on my Benz and hammer and costs less than half that...just saying.

The Honda ones will run about $500, not including shipping to the US. Just for a point of reference.

You gotta remember, we aren't making 250,000 units that we can amortize across multiple vehicles. You are talking about 1-off custom designs. Anyways, here is the one that I recently sold.
