please answer my question.
we have no clue what you are trying to figure out.
if you gave more details we probably can help you out.
Please; check your dipstick.
Does it read low?
we need to determine if your oil is actually low or if its just the sensor.
SO, please check your dipstick.
and report back your findings.

On the dipstick, the difference between the top hole and the bottom hole is usually 1 quart.
The light doesn't read your oil LEVEL, it reads oil PRESSURE. If you corner hard and the oil sloshes away from the oil pump pickup, there will be a moment where there will be no pressure since it didn't suck up any oil. That's when the light flashes on for a second.

I don't think he's having any problems.... he just wanted to know how much oil is left when the indicator comes on. But as thunder explained: "The light doesn't read your oil LEVEL, it reads oil PRESSURE." So the only way to answer your question is to check your oil dipstick every time the light indicator comes on. I'm sure it varies...

The low oil light is not oil pressure light, I'm pretty sure it actually indicates low oil level. Oil pressure would be the "no oil" light lol. Pretty sure there is a separate warning for low oil pressure, being a quart (or even 3) low would not trigger it unless the pickup tube broke off.

Dip stick reading was about 2-3 mm from the bottom circle/dot.
My indicator came on when the engine oil life read 90%.
I think my cars buring oil.
Thanks in advance for you help and sorry for the run-around by me

I will guess you used 4.5 quarts at oil change. I use 5 quarts because I believe it to be more correct. Don't follow my advice, just sharing my experience.
I have had the oil level light flicker when cornering, which is why I know of it. It was around 3,500 miles after an oil change and it took less than 1/2 quart to get it back up to top mark. It is reasonable consumption considering the water-thin oil, and me revving the piss of this thing.
Oil pressure light is a red light above your coolant temperature gauge, turn the key on without starting the car and you'll see it. Oil level light lights up in the speedo, where the rest of info lives.

ok so let get this straight.
does the car actually detects how much oil you have?
say you get an oil change, you reset your oil to 100%, does it calculate by how many miles you drive? or it actually detect your oil level and tell you that you have 80% or 70% left

Oil light comes on when there is a significant oil pressure drop, that can occur when you corner hard (which is why race cars use dry sump vs wet sump lubrication), or your oil level is a litre/quart or more below the add mark on dipstick.
My 09 is almost 5 years old and has over 93K miles (150K km) on the odometer, it burns (not leak) a litre of oil every 3K miles, so I usually have a jug of Mobil 1 in my trunk at all times and check my oil every other fill up.

my 2012 se engine light went on at 3000 miles, and it was brand new. took it in to the dealer, and they had to replace the o rings and pistons. it should be in the tsb report. forget about the oil test, its a known problem

While some cars have oil level sensors such as GM and BMW, I still don't think the K24 has one. BMW went as far as eliminating the dipstick and just relies on the sensor.
I would assume the oil level sensor would be in the oil pan. There's a bunch of sensors in this assembly (oil pressure, crank position, knock), but I couldn't locate an oil level sensor.

The only accurate measurement of oil level is the dipstick.
OP - it sounds like your car has an issue.

There has to be someone who works on these cars and knows the exact answer. I believe there are 2 separate sensors -- one in the crankcase for oil level and one near the oil filter where the oil is sucked in for low (no) oil pressure. There is no way you can trigger the "no oil pressure" sensor with being only a quart low unless tube breaks off or the car is upside down. There will still be plenty of oil in the pan and the pickup tube will be submerged in oil, it should not suck in air.

I asked UTAH TSX if he could chime in since he's a Honda tech. He was able to confirm that there is no oil level sensor.

I have checked the manual, and it does appear that you guys are correct. This is puzzling, because I did see the light flicker once. This was after the car was warmed up for a minute or two, then I drove out of my work's parking lot, drove a few hundred feet and took an "S" turn fairly fast as I always do. I stopped the car, checked the oil level (it was in the middle between the low and full marks) and added 1/2 quart of oil, bringing the reading to the full mark (or a hair above it). If the light is triggered by a sensor measuring oil flow from the bottom of the pan, how could it be getting triggered if there is so much oil left in the engine (over 4 quarts)?
I just checked my oil -- I'm at 1,300 miles after an oil change -- and the level is at full mark. I go through less than a quart in my oil change intervals, which are between 5K and 6K (40% oil life left). I consider this to be reasonable.
Next time I do an oil change I'll measure how much oil comes out.
