100% agree Ceb. I am not kidding when I say I was sitting in the showroom at the sales desk and was already eyeing up the painted ZDX handles.

ILX has painted and the big part is the same as ours. You would need the small end piece from a ZDX to make a set.

If they have them in your color this could be a cheap mod.

And Kostantino showed me a shortcut that make the swap almost too simple once the door panel is off.

I wish i had some spare cash....adding some sound proofing while the doors were apart would have been a great idea :|

I've been loosely following this thread.....the painted handles make a HUGE difference. The car looks much classier that way IMO.

Just ordered my rear sway from heeltoe. You have the greasable bushings from summit. Is the cap for the bushings plastic and are they threaded? Thnaks

confused me/

are you asking about the cap for the grease fitting?

if so, it has a ring that holds it on the fitting and the cap goes on and off.

No kidding.

What seams? I bought 8 foot long pieces of vinyl. They made the cuts so that the vinyl ends on the bottom parts.

Sorry, I'm just new at this vinyl stuff. So I assume they heated and stretched it the entire length then made an overlap underneath so there is nothing uncovered. It appears that the middle and back mounting devices were either left uncovered or wrapped separately. Thanks again.

Very nice. Those painted door handles look much better than the chrome.

I have a forged silver metallic wagon and would rather have painted handles.

On the vinyl I wasn't there I didn't watch to tell you step by step.

I can say that all seams are on bottom or inside of rails.

Good luck!

Do you still have your original handles? I would like them so I can do the same on mine, possibly we can start a swap out for people that want to do this also.

How much did it cost to wrap your rails? I thought about having mine painted to match or black.

i worked in the harley biz.....chrome exchange was like a ponzi scheme

i prefer to keep mine PLUS I forgot to take the bushings off before paint so I used the bushings on my painted set. there is a plastic end cap on both ends of the big part that work as bushings.

i bought my set on car-part.com there are tons out there.

most are listed single $35. I paid $140 plus $20 shipping.

BUT

people get nervous painting over the chrome. you need a painter knows what he doing like savclaude.

OR

I HEARD AFTER I BOUGHT MINE THAT
ILX big part and ZDX small part swap out. all except the keyhole IIRC.

I CANNOT CONFIRM THIS WORKS...ONLY THAT A RELIABLE MEMBER TOLD ME THEY DO.

these come painted so you may get the right color but "painting PAINTED ONES" goes over better.

and these cost about the same as salvage chrome ones.

GL.

ROOF RAILS: guy that does my tint did it for $60.

i can print you out the pages of the manual if you need.

the front end you pull towards the front. the rear is almost UP rather than rearwards. the middle are tricky. you need to unlock the tabs that are on the lower inside. I dont rmember if they move in or out.

ill be back in an hour, let me know if you need the manual.

yesterday I completed the grille ^^^^^ install. am using the red H for now/

i also fixed the fog rings. a few leds were burnt out. UGH/

so I tried a new kind of ring called 'on-board' or plasma.

my back hurts too much for any pics of them yet.

I also put in some H11 LEDs 30W 5000K I bought from xenon depot.

I wired these to work from an accord switch part number :
I also used the accord harness.

harness # 08V31-SDA-10030
switch # 8V31-SDA-1M0350

the accord harness has 5 wires:

black to ground
blue to power; I tapped a fuse that only has power with the key on
green is the trigger to the relay.
red is also ground. I tapped it into the black pin.
red/with black is the switch illumination. I tapped into the gray wire on the VSA switch.

the switch works perfectly.
it illums RED when I put the headlights on.
when i push it the BAR lights green.

the only thing is it does not DIM/BRITE when i turn the thing....stays light red.
otherwise it works as I expect.

when i feel better I will get you some pics of the fogs and the amber halos/

Nice! Looks like some fun projects. When do you turn the amber led rings on? I'd figure you'd just leave the fogs on all the time since they are independent.
