Feb 2012 TXS sales

Sales figures show that TSX sedan sales are up by 15% but wagon sales are more or less flat (down a bit but not significantly.)

The RL and ZDX in their current iteration appear to be waiting to be buried and that shows you what a lack of incentives can do.

I see very few Acuras in DC and absolutely no wagons. BMWs are a dime a dozen.

TSX is still the best-selling sedan for Acura, and when you add in the wagon, the FEB 2012 sales are 3,753, beating the MDX at 3,583.

TL is third at 3,211.

The wagon sales are just off by three units, and the low number of sales in general is probably more a factor of capacity constraints than demand.

Really? I have yet to see one wagon on my daily commute from Gaithersburg to DC. I see the occasional TSX sedan and a few more TLs.

I know they have to be out there somewhere, but I don't see them.

TSX = a dime a dozen in ATL.

But I guess that's what you get for living in a city where people leverage everything they "own"

I see at LEAST two or three 2nd gens per day, up to six.

Think it's time for a new eye glass prescription ceb

Seriously, wagons are rare but spotting one on the road or at a mall is not as difficult as tracking big foot. Just the other day, I saw like 3 wagons up in our hood (g'burg). One of them was in the Rio complex with temp tags and the other was driven buy some old geezer

What? You saw me twice? Man, I haven't been to Rio in ages.

Maybe I'm spending too much time in the office and less time looking for Acuras.

Thanks for the eyeglass reminder. I do have a couple of hundred to burn on FSA before the 15th.

I am the opposite.. Spending too much time working from home and looking for stuff to mod on the TSX without breaking the bank...

Yeah, but I missed the social interaction of being in the office from time to time. However, I am not about to travel to HQ in CT for chit chat and gossip when I have IM

I think this might be the first time the TSX was the top seller for Acura. They better know what they are doing if they are going to retire this model.

Meanwhile the combined ZDX and RL sales don't even reach 100. Pretty sad.

TSX outsold these combined sales ~40 to 1. And which one do they get rid of?

Personally, it has to do with the "appeal" of the car. The TSX is the only Acura sedan I would consider from a size and styling perspective. The TL used to be my favorite car but when came time to purchase one, the new model's styling did not appeal to me.

My Acura salesman told me that they lost tons of TL lease opportunities as the lessors were returning the TL as lease end and going across the street to lease a Lexus. (Granted, Lexus does not have the same sporty feel, but watch out for the new GS350...)

Nope. There was a thread before where the TSX topped Acura sales. It was before the ILX was announced...so sometime last year? That's why there was outrage when rumors of Acura dropping the TSX for the ILX were heard. Everyone's like "why would you drop your best selling sedan...does not make sense"

You've got to ask yourself why it is the best seller - perhaps because it is the least expensive entry level product?

If that is the case, then the TSX becomes the middle child - too close to the TL in features and price and too expensive for entry level.

IMO - and most everyone else here I suspect - the TSX has an appeal that goes beyond entry level. Many of us couldn't care about "entry level" as we've come from far more expensive and luxurious cars. I've owned a stable of (now considered classic) Mercedes (I could retire if I still owned them and sold them now) a couple of new Jaguars, Cadillacs and BMWs. For those of you like this, the cachet of "entry level lux" isn't the selling point - it is the car itself. The complete package of the TSX isn't replicated in any other Acura today and probably won't be replicated in the ILX - but the ILX will become the Acura bestseller because of the "entry level status" - even if it is only a tarted up Civic like the Caddy Cimmaron.

I see more gen 3 TLs than the current ones. I have yet to see a TSX wagon in person in Baltimore.

Yep. Tons of gen 3 TL, more current gen TLs than TSXs and I've only seen one wagon off a dealer's lot.

I'd say I see ten BMWs for every current Acura sedan.

What is even odder is that the brain is programmed to see things selectively. When I owned a Yukon, I saw Yukons everywhere. The same with A6/S6s, my GTI and then my BMW, but I still don't see many current TSXs.

Some people on here say that there are tons of TSX's in their areas, but in Texas I don't really see that many. I4's are the most common of the TSX set obviously, and I only see a few week. Also, Ive only seen 2 wagons, and 2 V6's. Ive been looking for them for about 8 months now.

Good job for Acura. Even though the TSX's price plays a role, what about the MDX. It's a $50K suv and they're selling good too. The TL's current design is... hurting it's sales. RL/ZDX...? We already know why...

I've recently seen 2 TSX wagons in the parking garage at where I work in Falls Church. Black and White. I WAS the only 2nd gen TSX that parked in there ... BASTARDS!

Before I bought mine, I saw a white one parked in a doctor's office and red driving by. My GLM is the 3rd I've seen on the road around Baltimore.

I see a lot of 3G TLs in my area. I seen plenty of 1G TSXs and im starting to see 2G TSXs now. I stare at pretty much every car I see on the road. It's amazing how many different makes/models I can point out.

theres a shitload of 2G's in my area. i see atleast one everytime i go out in my town, and theres a few around my school in philly. most are middle aged women driving though =/ only the occasional modded TSX. i need the AcuraZine stickers already so i can tell the modded TSX's to join in on the fun. i usually hit VTEC(loud with no rez) next to any TSX i see with tints, so they know im a modder too, and maybe say hi =D

There are lots of 2G TSX's in San Diego and plenty of 3G TLs too. If I needed a new car today, it would be a 2G TSX from Acura or a G from Infinity- definitely not the TL or the ILX in their current form. With just 45K on my current 3G, I got some time to wait things out from Acura- perhaps there is hope for another winner in the 5G TL.

I commute from Gaithersburg to SE and BMWs far outnumber Acuras.

I was more in shock with the way the black was driven on NJ turnpike. Excessive lane jumping and at rapid speed

I agree. Most, if not all, of us here bought the TSX for the car itself, especially those of us with 6MT because that configuration has practically no direct competition. (Jetta GLI closest IMO.) But I think many non-enthusiast urban professional types buy the TSX because it's among the least expensive "premium" cars available, plus it's reliable and practical. I figure lots of those folks would buy an ILX too, with many going the hybrid route.

BTW, I see loads of 2G TSX in the Philly area. My tiny neighborhood in Center City has had up to four at once. I regularly see only two now, one of which is a wagon. The TL seems less popular, but I see several of them too. The BMW 3 Series does seem more popular than both.

I'll keep an eye out for you! I'm regularly in Univ. City, and I live just across the river near the Franklin Inst. Just today, I saw another 2G that lives in my neighborhood. I can tell it lives here by the Zone 6 parking sticker. So we have at least three 2G full time Logan Square residents. The 2009 in Grigio seems to have moved out.
