If the dealership does not have the particular color and trim I want, do most dealerships trade off with another dealership to get the customer what they want? I don't want to be pressured into getting a car just because it's on the lot. The color and trim I want isn't a rare, should I have a problem since I am still thinking about a June purchase.
From my experience, the dealer will do everything to accomodate you to make a sale. Your dealer will view inventory in the greater area and then either make a "trade" with that dealer or flat out purchase it from that dealer to sell to you. (You pay the price you agreed upon with your dealer)
Example:
I negotiated a price for a Black w/black TSX that my dealer didn't have and the dealer then went out and actually purchased it from another dealer 50 miles away, transported it locally for me to pickup from them. That car also had extras on it like tinted window, wheel locks, mud flaps, trunk tray, etc.. but I only paid the agreed upon price.

In June go to the dealership and buy the car.

I live in NC and bought my tsx in Pa-they traded with a dealer in NJ to get the color I wanted. I had no problem with them driving it the 138 miles. I drove the car 600+ miles home. It now has 71,000+problem free miles. Almost bought a 09 but decided to keep my 06. Plan to get my next acura in April 2010. There is a acura dealer near me but I try to avoid them-they are rip-offs if you let them.

Well I think you should deal for the price of the car before you decide on any particular color. If you are trying to get a car that they don't have, you aren't in the best bargaining position.
As for odometer on the car, mine had 3 miles

Hey don't worry when you bring it in for service it will probably get throttled anyway. I see that all the time where ever I've worked... the minimum wagers drive those cars hard even if it's just around the back lot. Sometimes they get into accidents.
That is fine...but i am very anal...i always get a car with least amount of mileage (preferrably below 40 miles on odometer at time of purchase). I hate the idea of somebody (punk, technician, salesman, etc.) driving the car i am going to buy...you just never know what that person does to the car during delivery, esp. in a sports car. What do most people want to do while driving a sports car (esp. one that is not his/hers)?? "Lets see what this baby can do!"

I want to get a good deal of course, but I refuse to pay for a car that I don't like or want. When I pay for something I want it to be for something I like and enjoy. I have a color preference but I do have a second choice. Color, styling, safety, price and value matter to me. I once had a red chevy that was a great deal but I hated that car each day I had to look at it in my driveway. I treated that chevy like I hated it too. But the payments were great. That was the last time I did that. Since then affordability, safety and want I like. My color preferences are fairly common.
Not all of the lot attendants are bad. We have a pair of retired guys that help us out and if they are criticized for anything, it's for being too slow.
Retired or retarded? You guys don't do dealer trades but most of those guys are older and retired and drive very safely.
