Custom Acura Plate

I really don't know if this plate looks good on my car or not. I am really confused. I would like to get feedback from you guys.
If you like it, please select LIKE in the poll, if not select BUMMER.

Also, I do have the color matched screw caps for the plate. So, the screws won't be visible once I get them on. Gotta get smaller screws before I can do that.

Thanks for your time! Any additional feedback is appreciated.

It's a nice plate but it's redundant given the badge on your stock grille...

You put bolts into the bumper.... NO YOU DIDN'T! You could have dropped it three inches and used the clips and bolt setup from the factory.

That's how I got them from the dealer.

Does your State require a front plate? Apparently not...so why not go completely plate-less instead of running a redundant plate, like Ressling said. Seems unnecessary to have two nearly identically sized logos 14" apart.

What dealer... they screwed you over. When I took delivery of my 2011, I immediately took a socket and took the front plate and mounting brackets. The clips in to which the bolts screw should be in the bottom grill work.

On second guess, they may have mounted it upside down. Just make sure those top two screws don't go into the bumper material.

Why not just back-light the entire car. Lexan body panels, etc. Like the wheels on the R8 the West Coast boys did for the CEO of Monster Cable.

It's too much, and like ressling said it's redundant. +1 on the no plates, but if you have holes in your bumper then I guess not.

This is what happened: I bought the car in a state where both front and rear license plates are mandatory. Registration & plates are processed in a different state where I live and has only rear license plate mandatory. Dealer by-default must have drilled the holes. Its a bummer I didn't think about it when I bought this probably due to the over-excitement of getting this babe!!

But still then like you mentioned, I do not understand why they did not use the lower grille for this purpose

Any ideas of I can cover the drilled bumper holes please ??

The older (96-00) Civics had painted plugs you could buy from the dealer to plug plate holes. Now...they were oval shaped & may look worse than holes.

Also, gravel pans/guards are held in place with little plastic push pins, some of them are smooth on the top. You may try to use one of those (but you'd have to paint them).

Drill bigger holes and put faux twin towhooks in the holes. Towhook = jdm, yo. TWO towhooks = DOUBLE the jdm, yo.

All joking aside, if they bumper has holes in it, leave it!

You sure its drilled? Most TSX's Ive seen use the holder that attaches only to the lower grill part. Other than that your only choice would be get plugs which I feel dont look that nice but are better than nothing.

I would try to call the dealer and complain first though. Maybe they can replace your bumper...I doubt it but its worth a try

Thanks for the reply!

Dealer says it is their standard procedure to drill holes into their bumper.

Did any of you who have their front license plate holder/bracket actually got 2 holes drilled into their bumper from their dealership when they bought.

I need some replies from you guys to back my argument with the dealer to get my bumper replaced. If the dealer doesn't agree with me I will probably talk to main Acura guys.

ive read lots of stuff about this on various forums, basically where its legal to have a front plate i believe its the dealers liability in terms of making sure the front is drilled for plates, the only way to avoid it is to go through extra hoops BEFORE they are drilled and then you also have to sign a waiver acknowledging that you are going hole-less so that the dealer is not responsible

i think i read one thread where the guy did all this and the dealer still fucked him by drilling holes in it, lol

I agree with you KillerG but they should have used the factory holes which go into the lower grille to get the front license plate bracket on.

My dealer has done both factory hole screws into the lower grille and as well as drilling holes into the bumper.

When I asked why the heck you had to do both of them, they said for extra damn protection. They say that with just the factory holes that go into the lower grille, the front license bracket is not very sturdy and stable. Is that true ? I think the two factory holes that go into the lower grille are good enough to hold the license bracket.

Man that sucks balls. Unless it's required by law, I'm thinking your dealer doesn't know what the hell they are doing...

as a matter of fact, i just changed my license plate frames today, so i stop advertising my dealership, and i just noticed that i also have holes drilled into my bumper top and bottom

im gonna be honest though it doesnt bother me at all xD

anyway tsx2011, one thing i noticed a while ago is that some of the guys here were complaining about marks left on their front bumpers from the plate hitting it, which was confusing for me because i never had any such problem

i am guessing (not positive) that if the dealer only drills the lower grill holes and mounts it from down low, that the top remains slightly loose and through frequent driving the back and forth motion of the slightly loose upper license plate mount will scuff a line into your bumper

now that the hole is there theres not much you can do, like HD said, bumper plugs usually stink

props for doing something custom though

KG is right, with the license plate frame installed just on the lower grille, the thing rocks back and forth leaving awful marks on the bumper

I've taken my front bumper plate holder off and the holes were in the bumper grill, not the actual bumper. I don't think they needed to drill holes in your bumper, and I'd be upset if they did.

This is before taking the plate off

This is after taking the plate off

As you can see I have 4 bolts in the plate, but only the bottom 2 are bolted through the grill holes. The top 2 bolts are just to hold the "Jackson Acura" plate to the front bumper plate holder.

So, you don't have any holes drilled into your front bumper. (Not the grille, the actual bumper itself)

I kinda wish I needed a front plate. Would give me a reason to get the Mugen front bumper (which I wouldn't cuz I don't need a front plate and the mount is built into the Mugen bumper)

Correct no holes in my front bumper only in my lower grille. I know the pics aren't the best but I already had them on my computer
