Can anyone help me to identify this?

I have quick knocking sound coming from outside of driver side. The knock is quick and light when I accelerated. I always suspect it maybe a engine pinging, b/c it only happen when I accelerated. but It is also hard to convince myself, b/c the quick knocking sound is not from hood(engine area). Can anyone who has engine pining problem tell me where exactly engine pinging come from? Will be possible not coming from front (hood area)? I addressed this issue to dealer last week, but they said they can not hear it. (but i did not mention it sound like engine pinging). Maybe I should just tell them my engine ping when i accelerated.

Can anyone tell me how should I deal with dealer regarding this? Thanks.

tsxuser: I think I have a pinging noise coming the outside of my car. It only happens when when I accelerate.
dealer: you have to make an appointment.
tsxuser:*&+^^&%...what time you have available?
dealer: Glad to see you made it in. Now what is the problem.

dealer: OK...I will have one of our tech take a look. They might have to take it for a test drive and see what happens.
tsxuser: ok..no problem.

I've found it's much easier diagnosing and fixing odd noises myself than trying to explain what I hear to someone else and hope they fix it properly.

That's why I fixed the rear parcel shelf popping issue myself over this past weekend.

best bet is to try to reproduce it for the tech instead of trusting the tech to know what the real issue is from what the service writer is typing into the system.

The problem with "noises" and what one perceives as "noises" is different from person to person. Even though a tech may work on Acuras and TSXs all day long, they don't necessarily own one, so their time behind the wheel of one is still quite limited. So even on test drives when they're trying to listen for a "noise", they have a hard time deciding what is "normal" and what isn't.

Like the poster before me said, if you take it to the dealer, you'll probably have the best chance of getting it pinpointed and fixed by pointing it out yourself to the tech. However I still think it's typically easier to fix noises yourself.
