Brake calipers/fog lights

So the tsx and I are getting to know each other and man I couldn't be happier ! Major upgrade fromy 92 accord lol. I noticed the calipers have a fair amount of rust on them (it's a 2012) what have you guys done to improve the look? I searched the forums but haven't been able to find anything tsx specific.

Also what's the best way to match the color of the fog lights with the hid lights ?

You can take a wire brush and clean off the rust if it really bothers you. Go all out and paint the caliper if you want some style. But are you sure its rust and not brake dust? Takes a lot of moisture/neglect to get brake calipers to rust specially for 12.

Believe the headlights are 4300k, so you can grab a PnP HID H11 kit and the color output should be close.

Your calipers have rust on them? Are you sure you don't mean the rotors?

Thanks for the replies. Attached are a couple of pics of the Surface rust on the calipers. I'm not looking to do anything flashy just want it to look clean

After you clean the rust off, paint it to apply a coat of protection.

i think it may be better to change your car as a whole to the rust color. you know...to match the calipers

Mine looked like that when I bought my car, with 38K on it. Most of the pre owned cars on the lot looked like this, so I'd say it's pretty common, especially with as much salt and crap that are dumped on the roads.

I sanded what I could, wire brushed what I could, blasted them with some brake clean followed by compressed air. I left the calipers on and taped everything off I didn't want to get paint on, but I suppose you could take them off to paint them.

Use a high temp caliper paint of your choice and you are good to go. I went with silver.

I also painted the rotor hats while I was there. It just makes everything look much cleaner.

Thanks! Sounds like you put quite a bit of effort into them. Got any pics?

I will look to see if I have pics. I don't think I took any, but with three kids, who knows? I may have forgotten. Kids are detrimental to the brain cells.

They don't look pretty now, but I have them hidden behind a set of steelies with snows for the winter. It's always a rather unpleasant surprise when I take them off to swap back to my stock wheels.

I'll definintely be doing the same process over again this spring, when all this white stuff goes away, so I will be sure to get some pics.

Here's to hopin spring gets here soon!

I remove them. Wire brush them. Pressure wash them (plug the fluid fitting holes first). Then paint them with caliper paint. Calipers and brackets. I live in a salty state too. :'(

Not all these are daily/winter driven cars. But...you finna feel me.

Thanks man! I'm glad they're aluminum and already coated lol. Iron calipers are hard to keep rust free! I kinda wish that they were powder coated silver instead of zinc plated from the factory.

Organic/polymeric and ceramic coatings seem to work better than metallic plating for corrosion resistance.

I bought a 2010 TSX last fall, same issue. I cleaned them with a wire brush mounted on a drill, then cleaned them off with brake cleaner, painted them with Duplicolor silver wheel paint. Still looks great after the rough winter we had.
