Best place to sell TSX
Although I absolutely love my TSX I've run into a situation where I have to get rid of it. Its an 09 tech black with about 45k miles on it. I'm the second owner after a lease and it's still under the certified warranty. Back in the day I'd post an ad in autotrader magazine but that doesn't seem to be used by many private sellers anymore. Any suggestion as to where to post an ad for sale. I know craigslist is always a viable option but 95 % of the posts seem to be from dealers making it hard for a buyer to find my ad. Also - any idea as to what I could get for it? I'm in chicago btw

id just sell it to a dealer.
ive tried selling privately plenty of times and every time i do it, i think it should go pretty smooth.
you get nothing but tire kickers, joy riders, and low ballers.
its honestly a waste of time to me.
i always take it to a couple of dealers and see what theyd give me for it.
carmax is always a good starting point because theyll most likely give you the lowest offer.
good luck

Just sold my Subaru to webuyanycar.com. Was very skeptical at first but all went pretty smooth and got $1500 more than the any dealer offered on trade in. Could have gotten more privately of course but the dealer offers were pretty awful.

hmmm, just checked this out. couple of problems, first the closest branch is in PA, and I live in chicago. Second, they're only offering $14,055! Please tell me that I should not be expecting such a low offer even from a dealer .

well what do you THINK your car will bring?
if you sell to a dealer you have to figure about 2K less than retail as he needs to SELL IT.
i have a 2012 wagon. 2,500 miles.two thosand five hundred miles. this is a 12 wagon with tech that stickered for over 35K. they offered me 24.5/ that is with them acknowledging that my clear bra would be 1K extra item. this is the dealer i BOUGHT the car from.

I have had an easy time selling cars in the past and they always go to first party that comes for a test drive. There will be plenty of people trying to jack you on the price on the phone before even seeing the car- just ignore them and tell them that the price is negotiable after then see the car and leave it at that.
If you want a slam dunk deal, go to CarMax and sell it to them. There is always a price to this convenience and that is about $1000.
The other tactic I have seen is parking the car buy a Costco Gas station with a big sign on it and lots of information in the window. Having a copy of the original Window sticker is a very nice thing to use if you have one or can copy one from a friend.
I would use AutoTrader (web version only), and Craigslist with a reasonable price- perhaps $100 less than a competing vehicle with higher mileage if you're in a hurry to sell. Doing that is smarter than starting super high and getting tired of the calls and looky-lous. Time is money and the less time I use the better.
