amp and subwoofer.

I want to add an amp and subwoofer to my 2014 tsx with tech package. I took the car to a professional and asked him if he could just tap in to the amp and subwoofer that are already in the car so that he didn't have to go behind the dash or run any wires and he laughed at me and stated that this wasn't possible. Is he telling the truth or is this just a tactic to get more money out of me?

He is telling you the truth. The ELS system that is in your tech package TSX is tightly integrated from head to amp. The only thing you can really do is upgrade the speakers. If you want to do an upgrade otherwise, you're likely going to have to gut and replace the whole thing. I have a tech package myself, biggest waste of time/money. Would've been heaps cheaper/easier to get the base package, an aftermarket double din, speakers, and call it a day.

edit:
btw, I noticed you are new here and you're creating an awfully lot of new threads. Please, use the search function first. All of these things have already been discussed.

Yes I have an Acura Tsx 2010 TECH. You have to get a PAC - line out converter (loc) to tap into the 10 inch factory subwoofer wire and from there install the amp and sub!

I made a video of it. You can do it yourself. I made a diagram at the end of the video.

Sweet. So you just grabbed wire after the factory amp as opposed to removing completely?

Yea. I just unplugged the factory subwoofer wire harness and using a ttap I connected the line out converter to it. My factory amp is still working and I can control the bass from the car settings for the sub. But I would suggest getting an amp with a bass remote knob.

Hey guys,
I'm new here, I just recently installed a JLX 250/1 and a 10w6 in a High Output enclosure. Does anyone have any reccomendations as to where to mount the bass knob?
Thanks
