Acura TSX AD claims Active Sound Control on the TSX
This ad of course is for the 2010. I suspect our 2009 has it too (i've heard it kick in the morning as I start my car).

Dealer claims the TSX does not have it, only the TL.
The reason I ask - on a long drive I need that thing shut off, it puts me to sleep if I am super tired.

A friend has that active cancelling deal on his 08 TL-S. He had to defeat it when upgrading the stereo because it was causing a bunch of problems.
I think the Accord V6 has it to, to cancel out the harmonics from the multiple dislacement system (6/4/3 cylinder operation?)

^^no, it primarily serves to help cancel out low frequency noises like exhaust resonance, tire noise etc. V6 TSX only. Others include top models of Odyssey and Accord (where it might also help with VCM), TL, RL and ZDX.
I still wonder why the changed the name from Active Noice Control to Active Sound Control? LOL although by itself, "noise" is not politically correct in a car, "noise control" is. Gotta be some ad copy writer...

Well, the sounds never bothered me...infact i am looking for ways to make my car louder haha, but if you want increased sound dead DJMc, an easy mod to do would be to open the door panels and add sound deadening material to them, ive seen them done on other cars and might achieve a similar effect to a noise isolation system.
Even if we can retrofit it the system appears to work by producing resonant frequencies which neutralize the equal and opposite frequencies produced by the engine, so even if we got it to work wouldnt it need to be producing a whole different set of sounds to quiet the I4?

Its only the V6 TSX. It only reduces low end hum. It doesn't reduce sound across all frequencies. Its similar to noise canceling headphones you can buy at the store. It won't get rid of everything. The system uses another mic in the sunglass holder area and your regular audio system for the output. You can't turn it off.

Well for the 2010 models, the brochure only marketed this feature for the V6 models.
Personally I'm kind of mixed on this feature. It good at dampening a bunch of sounds and it makes driving alone at night rather "interesting" for lack of better description; but at the same time I feel I'm missing out on hearing the V6 engine roar as the low end sounds are muffled. Only when I rev hard do I realize my engine actually exists lol

thats odd that the accord had it but we didnt at 200hp... only thing i can think of is that it was cheaper for them to use sound deadening material...but then again why didnt they do that in the ex-1 accord?

Has nothing ton do with power. Its about add droan/noise when honda gave the accord coupe and EX 4cylinders have bigger piping to get the 190hp. The TSX's dual exhaust relieves this issue i'd think which is the reason why the TSX 4cyl doesn't have it. The droan only happens at 3-4k rpm then it's gone. Highway speeds are no different or speeds below that. The TSX V6 gets it because the Sound issues that were in the TL-S are happening with the same motor in the TSX. Don't forget guys that its the same motor.
