Accessing the trunk from inside?
I did it, the trunk popped open but I couldn't lower the seat so that I can access the trunk.
Anyone else have tried or any thought?
You can lower the back seats with the handles in the back. The whole backseat completely folds down. I dunno if this is what you're looking for, but yeah. The handles/switches that release the backseat is on roof of the trunk (there's a pretty obvious picture on that lever); you can just pull it and then fold the seats down
i think youre mistaken, i have the same question as the OP.
i was driving and my cousin needed to get somethign from the trunk, we couldnt figure out a way to get the seats to fold down from inside the car and access the trunk from there.

I know there are 2 latches in the trunk, mounted on its roof, but that for lowering the backseat FROM OUTSIDE.
What I am asking was similar to that latch but FROM INSIDE, from the backseat.

Thanks a lot, hjahmad and MrOtocinclus
So can we confirm that there is NO WAY to get that done from inside?
I'm waiting for some other inputs to put this case down as impossible to do so.
Thanks all

Can't do it on a 2nd gen TSX. There is the key release in the latch anchor, however, that is so you can release the trunk if the battery were dead (2nd gen has electronic release).
On the 1st gen the key hole coul be used to fold the rear sets. Turning it clockwise released the drivers side and counter clockwise released the passenger side.
Other than a cable driven lever you install yourself, it can't be done.

Sorry to revive an old thread but just so your minds can rest. Honda intentionally left out a lever inside the car to open the backseat. It is a part of the valet lockout system. Think, if you have a lever to open the backseat then the trunk release switch in the glove box would be useless because valet people or thieves could easily access the trunk through that lever.

Anyway, honestly, I'm not quite understanding what a "lever" you mentioned in your statement. As far as I know, every vehicle I drove does have a spare key, called "valet" key, along with its master key. So in case of valet parking, you use the Master key to lock and give the attendant the Valet key. With the valet key, they CANNOT open the trunk, no matter from inside or outside. The valet key comes for that purpose.
How's about with the Master key? Even the owner who carry the Master key, for 1G TSX, yes owner can access the trunk from inside, for 2G TSX, no, owner cannot access the trunk from inside.
The question is, why Acura not allow owner to access the trunk from inside for their 2nd TSX. I think it is a drawback, a mistake.
Escalation this issue, I call for TSX 2011 owner, can you guys please try to do it to see it's doable or not.
Thanks all.
Accessing trunk from inside 2nd Gen
Actually the fact you can't lower seats in a 2nd Gen TSX from inside main area i think is great. Bit of a PITA but, i'd just as soon lower seats from inside the trunk than know someone else could break a window or whatever and access from the inside. Bit of reassurance IMHO.

Reason why there is a trunk release cut off switch inside the glove box is so you can turn it off and lock the glove box with the master key so valet cannot open the trunk using the trunk release button. Now if there was a lever that was placed inside the car to fold the rear seats then cutting off the trunk release switch would be useless because anyone breaking in or valet can just pull that lever to gain access to the trunk. That's the reason why there is no lever or any of that sort inside the car to fold the rear seats down.

First of all, if you already breaking the windows then I guess you can break the glovebox to flip the switch then pop the trunk at any time.
Assume if the thief is nice enough just break the windows but doesn't touch the glovebox and also assume the trunk has been locked by the Master key, how a thief can access the trunk either from inside or outside?

As one of the member has said above, you can ONLY lower the backseat down when you are using the MASTER key, turn clockwise or counter-clockwise (I think he said on his 1G TSX).
As far as I understand, we need a MASTER key to do it, Valet key cannot.
I guess I don't get the point of the lever you mentioned about (w/o the master key)
someone mentioned putting a lever inside and i was just trying to say that its not a good idea. putting 2 more key holes in the rear deck would look funny and its extra $$ for something you wont use often unless you are making your tsx as a cargo truck
