What can i say.... today fucking SUCKED. woke up at 7:30 to go down to my storage room. flooded with oil. long story short, the building lost power, generator came on for emergency lighting and shit. middle of the night it blew a hose, spilled 20 gallons of diesel before it was fixed. my storage room is underneath the generator room and we got flooded with diesel. spent 4 hours moving stuff out of the room, trying to protect stuff from further damage, and all that shit. all the while using flashlights due to no power. cant really stop coughing and i have a headache, probably not good. while in the shower earlier i coughed up blood and got a nosebleed. no more of that for now. fire department came at noonish, hazmat at 2, left the area at about 5:30... i staying at a friends house who has power, my family is all staying in a different town at family friends. here are pics of my storage room, but on the plus side, my baby is just fine

my room is officially completely empty of everything. was able to bucket out all the water after one day. washed almost all my clothes. tore apart all the remaining furniture (water made it easy) and tossed it out. still no power though. con ed called me and an automated message said they did preliminary testing and should have power back by sat. fuck.

anyone here know if water heaters are salvageable after being completely submerged by water? the water at its highest point was almost six feet in my basement. same thing with desktops/gaming systems? if i rinsed it out with water? any chance of survival? i'm already thinking no but just wanted some outside verification.
