I spoke to a rep for Tein at an import show and he said that with the Tein SS for a close to stock ride with alittle firmness he would recommend putting the dampering level to 8(depending on your road conditions). I asked him what are the dampering settings on the basics and he said there set to 7 1/2 - 8. I know a few cats that have the Teins with the dampering level setting and they dont really mess with it after they come to a comfortable setting.

Your up in Boston, MA and I used to live in RI and travel to Boston alot and I know how those roads are out there. But for the most part it's mainly highway driving so I would say you would be safe with the Basics. It would save you money and you have a nice coilover set up on your ride.

They said the nex coilovers were not made for our car that they are for the 4cyl accord and not the v6 and they are not made for the weight of our engine.

Tein Basic is like $700 online, so your looking at $200 for the install. Seems a little high to me, but it may depend on your area.

Yeah all you people in the West Coast would die with the prices us East Coast people would have to pay. I wish the prices were as great here. I heard you can get a spoiler mounted (labor only) for $25 bux!! I'm so jealous!

THe price you got is not a rip off, or a great deal either. That would be the going rate around here. You should be looking at about $175 to $200 for install on springs and shocks, from a preformance shop.

Well, then, you need to call around and find out what the installation usually costs in your area. If other shops charge a hundred bucks, as well, then you're getting ripped off on the price of the parts.

By the way, spend the extra bucks and please get the Tein SS.

The only difference is the dampering adjustment, if you dont take your ride to the track or street race I don't see the reason in spending that extra cash. If your car isn't a daily driver and your not into that speed driving then stay with the basics but if your driving habits are different then go SS. It's all within your budget playa.....

I paid 850 shipped for my Tein SS and 315 for the EDFC.

The convenience of having a plush ride cruising down the highway, while having the ability to tighten it up for a spirited drive outside town is really awesome. If you're about to spend hundreds of dollars on a coilover system, why not spend the extra 150-200 bucks and go all out?

I really dont trust taking mt car to too many shops I have been dealing with them for over 5 years now without any problems is why I dont search around for other install shops and they are also a authorized tein distribution shop . I can get them online but is it worth the hassle only to save a few bucks?

Well, if you trust that they will give you a good deal and do a good job, then go for it.

But I personally look for the best deals, and install everything myself, for the same reason as you -- I don't trust people.

install it yourself...its a semi-easy job when you have coilovers. you dont even need a spring compressor.

Where did you get them? I went to T3 on Hunnington, and they said $900 installed for the basics, while you wait! We're talking like 45 to an hour.......If you smooth em over a little and talk about car shows and thier show cars, you'll prob get em down to 850 or something......

T3 is a really good shop....they used to be called RPM back in the day. Redlinen if you end up getting the Tiens cheap and want another place where you can get them installed called up HondaZone in cambridge on broadway st ask for Murph and tell him Terry with the TL-S sent you. He is an authorized honda and acura licensed specialist, and the first person I go to for anything.

If you get the pillow ball mounts, then no.

However, with the non-PBM Tein coilovers, you have to use the factory upper mount, and you will need to use spring compressors to take them off the factory strut assemblies.

But it's not absolutely necessary. The stock springs are not compressed too hard, so the upper mount won't fly off and hit you in the face or anything.

I was wondering what is the difference in the ride quality between the basics and SS? I Live in boston and have a 01 tl and am trying to decide betweent the basic's and ss. I want to keep the ride as close to stock as possible. I have wnt to several places and some said go withthe basics and others said the SS. I just wanted to get some opinions and reviews for people who have them on thier car if possible.
