Strut/ Shock recommendations.

I am looking for a recommendation for a low cost strut replacement for my 2002 TL-S. The struts now have 130k on them and are completely shot. A softer ride would be prefered as well.

I would love some recommendations on some of the products found on Amazon or Ebay as they seem to have resonable prices. I have just never heard of alot of the brands found on there. Thanks for your help!

Hey Jetmech77, for comparing shocks......check out Rock auto. They have a couple of different brands which are comparable to the OEM's at good prices. You can also check your local auto parts stores, as they periodically run
specials and rebates on replacement struts.

the HP Tokico's are a bit costly. Are they really worth the extra cost? On rock auto they have the Sensen struts- set of 4 for $129 shipped.. any reviews on the Sensens?

I would go with the tokico blues you usually get what you pay for and many people have run them. If your planning on keeping the car spend the extra money

Would it be recommended to get springs as well when the shocks/struts are purchased? Not sure how long the OEM springs last.

Get aftermarket ones at the same time. You have to take it apart anyways.

Which springs are recommended for a comfortable ride? So far I read H&R OE is the closest to OEM comfort.

Ride quality has more to do with the shock than the spring.

Another vote for Tokico HPs (blues). Pair 'em up with H&R Sport Springs. The drop is perfect - the way our TLs should have come from the factory - and the ride is great as well. Firm, not harsh and 10x better than stock, IMO.

Do you happen to have a picture of the setup? Does it accommodate larger wheels with no issues? I plan to upgrade to 18s or 19s.

Yes you can put larger wheels on. When you upgrade the wheels the overall diameter of the tire doesnt change making them the same size as the stock wheel/tire.

Well, I ended up buying Sensen shocks off ebay after reading some great reviews. I installed them today, and was expecting an improvement but WOW the results are amazing. Obviously my struts must have been well worn, the front left struts and rear right shock had alot of oil residue. Also the front left was completely out of nitrogen but the others seemed to still have a little bit of gas left.
I hope the Sensens last, but really great price $128 for 4 and great ride!
When I was inspecting the bushings and bearings I noticed the the stabilizer bar bushings are loose and shot..and recommendations on brand recommendations?

P.S. my 2002 TL-S had 138k miles on the original stuts.

I have 260,000 miles on my TL and have went thru 2 sets of Tokico struts. I live on a washboard dirt road. The last thing I am looking for is bargain struts. My buddy always ran Koni's on his Porsche's and I am thinking of trying them @ $130 each
