Shock's
What recommendations would you make if you wanted a replacement shock that would still offer a similar ride (comfortability wise) as stock put had some reasonable performance? I've seen some say the the Tokico Blues were firmer than stock. Are the Illuminas adjustable enough to get close to stock comfortability?
Don't want to wind up with harsh ride.
Thanks

Belive me.. Tokico Blue is as good as stock or better. it won't be harsh. Tokico Illumina is more expensive, but you can adjust with 5 different levels. My suggestion would be at least getting 2 front TOkico illumina. Anyways, tokico blue is a good oem replacement.

Depends on your budget. You want really good/premium shocks? Then Koni Yellow or Bilsteins are the way to go ... but they are expensive compared to the others mentioned.
Otherwise Tokico Blues are a fine OEM replacement, based upon the reports from fellow AZ 2nd gen TL members. And ... they won't break the bank.

if you go with the illuminas you can adjust how bumpy you want the ride. it also depends on how low you are. the more drop you go the less movement the shocks will have a resulting in a stiffer ride. if you want stock ride get h&r oe springs on stock shocks.
lowering with out a stiff bumpy ride is pretty unheard of.

I have the Tokico Blues with new springs and it rides much better than stock. Not rougher, just more controlled. I used to have the older (gray) comptech springs with stock struts, and the new setup is much better. It is firmer when it needs to, and smoother at the same time. You could just tell the stock struts had no business with a lowering spring.
I would say get the blues because of the value and ride quality. You will never adjust your shocks (so dont pay extra for that) and the next step up would be the Koni struts. They are nearly 3x the price of the blues - not worth it at all.

you want cheap that'll get the job done for a while, KYB. You want good that'll get the job done and last prob as long as you have the car, tockico blue. You want the ability to adjust but you prob never will after you install them, illumina's. You want the best and a lifetime guarentee, bilsteins.
Of all of that, i went with the tockico blue's. Do it right the first time and be done with it.
Keep this in mind, what do you do with the car? drive it like an acura is ment to be driven, putting around every day, enjoying the comfort, then don't bother with all that adjustability crap, its not a race car or even close to being one, 99.9% of those that have them don't even know what to do with it, but it sounds cool!!
