Arrow Quick question regarding Tein SS vs. Basic

Is the only advantage of the SS the ability of it to work with the EDFC and the "16 levels of damping force adjustment" that it offers?

Is there any other advantages that it has over the Basic?

Thank you.

Yes, the SS allow you to adjust the softness/stiffness of your suspension using 16 different levels of adjustment. You can also run the EDFC on the SS and electronically control this adjustment if you have the 2nd Gen TL.

So those are the only differences betwen the Basic and SS? The ability to change dampening and the EDFC compatibility.

Thank you sir!

Well it's kind of hard to slam your car and still have a smooth ride. TEIN SS will probably do the best at that but it won't be as soft as OEM.

How many of us know or remember how the car felt way back when new?
So the- compared to OE ride should be- compared to now...
Basics are basic
SS are Street-Sport or Super Sweet

SS- the adjustment stiffens or softens the rebound/dampening rate in one click at a time adjustment.
The EDFC is cool- I was playing with a display yesterday- a tiny electric motor, ~1 inch square, sits on top of each shock into the adjuster screw.
Because they are fine gear controlled- they increase the adjustments from 16 to 32
and have 3 presets you program, plus instant, and I mean INSTANT changes while in motion- of the fronts or rear settings with Up-Down buttons.
There are combinations of adjustments where soft-med front, soft rear gives a very close to OE ride, or med front stiffer rears takes out understeer for mountain fun or track days, or load it full of luggage and friends, adjust the handling on the go
You could even set one for cornering and the next for straightaway braking- stiffen the fronts, the tap the button and back on smooth driving mode.
The controller is small- wonder if it will fit in the glasses holder hmmm?

You can set it and forget it too- comes on with engine

Use brain to make picture in head
Open hood- look at top of current shocks
see the stud with the nut in the middle there?- now take a deep breath and as you exhale
imagine an allen head opening in the center of that
Insert special allen wrench provided with shocks into top of shock
Turn 1 click at a time to adjust thru range
easy for the fronts- its right there- takes seconds

Rears- remove rear seat bolts- pull seat forward- reach thru holes you drilled/cut out of trunk liner for access to top of shock, insert tool - adjust
with other hand, call chiropractor for appointment

With EDFC
tap or hold the up down button for fronts and rears
or push A B C for your presets and it immeditaly spins the adjuster
Call wife- tell her traffic is terrible and go for a ride on the back roads~

The motors thread on the top of the strut shaft. The controller mounts somewhere inside the cabin. We have mounted them in the glove box.
