Question Peeps with coilovers, how bad is the ride?

I've decided to get NEX coilovers because they offer a much lower drop, wondering if i can buy them here. I've heard the ride is noisy and very stiff but i can live with stiff. But noisy, i don't know what u guys mean and do u really have to align the car every time u adjust the height? And how stiff is the ride really compared to springs? I read that the ride with Apexi is closer to comptech springs? Need to here comments cause if true then i think Apexi would be better for me if it is also less noisy. I've been undecided for like two months and already want to lower my car.

I've had the Apex'i coilovers for the past 5 months, and they're not that stiff (anymore). When I first got them in the car, I thought they were harsh (but was content because handling & performance was drastically improved). After they've had a chance to break-in, the ride quality got smoother and performance was still great. As for noise, I've had very little. Only when I hit a pothole or everytime I have to jack-up the car to do some work underneath do I experience some noise. I suspect since I'm lowered 2", the spring has to settle into the rubber upper mount everytime the shock assembly is fully extended. The noise (whatever little of it) is not much of a problem since it goes away after less than a minute of driving. As for lowering, when I talked to the Apex'i sales rep he told me you could lower the car up to 3" safely. My current drop is about 2" and have about a finger space even all around. If I lower to 3 inches, the tires will be tucked underneath the fender and I'd have to worry about rubbing.

I've rode in Blackshadow's TL a few times which also have Apex'i coilover and felt that they where pretty good, not all that harsh at all. But it's too low in my opinion, gotta jack it up about 1/2 an inch or so. It all depends on the size of tires you have also, that will affect it I would say 50%.

I have the Apexi coilovers on my TL for close to 3 weeks now. The ride quality was close to stock which really surprised me. But of course you can feel every bump in the road now. It's a small trade-off for way better handling especially in the corners. It is a little harsh right now but I am pretty sure it will get softer later on.
BTW, how low do you plan on dropping your car since you said that the NEX drops more? Unless you plan on putting your car in a show, I think the Apexi goes pretty low. My TL is dropped 3" and any lower will definitely rub a lot.
I was in your position less than a month ago when I was deciding which coilover to get (NEX or Apexi). I decided with the Apexi because it is a few hundred dollars cheaper, rides smoother, and a great reputation.

Well at least i'm not the only one that has had this dilemna . The reason for my preference for the NEX coilovers was that it is a complete coilover system, easier installation. I'm not planning to drop my car more than 3 inches so the apexi drop is actually more than I need. Still will like to hear from somebody who has the NEX coilovers, but i think that the Apexi's gives me more of what i want. Thanx everybody.

I think Tanner is the only one with NEX on this board, and i think mchtypes too. You could do a search on NEX and find Tanner's post when he first installed it and see what he says. I'm going to install my NEX coilover on Wednesday so I'll tell you how it feels compared to my Ground Control.

Question

Definitely in the same boat as you guys: I'm purchasing 19's very soon. I want my ride as smooth as possible...as close to stock as I can get it. I've had a stiff-riding Integra, and I bought a TL for the smoothness. What i wanna know is, how does the Ground-Control ride compared to stock, and do they drop as low as the Nex? At this point, from what I've heard the Ground-Controls sounds like what would be my best bet, but I wanted to get some feedback from somoe one who has them.

Thanks fellas...this'll be a big help!!

Yeah so whats up with the Nex coilovers anyhow? Almost 8 years later, they should be much better? Anyone else want to chime in?

Right now as I see it here are the coilover options, definitely want fully threaded coils
-Ksport
-Omnipower
-Function Form
-Megan
-D2 Racing
-Tein (on car)
-AMR
-Nex

I take it only Teins are made in Japan? Everything else is in Tawain, China, Phillipines etc?
