Question help

just got a new set of 17' X7 R-1 hype wheels from wheels next for my silver 2000 tl they came with 215-50-17 hankook tires on them. Slapped them on and I felt like a dad with a new baby, the car looked sweet. car road well until I hit a bump then there was a slight rubbing noise coming from the drivers side. It wasn't much however it caused me some concern. Will this happen on both sides
Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do so I can stop the noise
jjf
thanks

Whats the offset on the wheel? We have to have that in order to help you. Every time someone posts something like this they never tell the offset.

Why didn't you buy a bigger wheel?

Ok I finally found out the offset is 40. for my R-1 wheels with 215-50 17 hankook tires
the last time I purchased wheels/mags for my car was 30 years ago and it was a once and done thing without any problems. So now is a 40 offset a problem and why? this is all new to me and I thought since I was only going to 17's this would be a breeze. So any reasonable recommendations or am I in trouble with a big$$ fix
jj
ok I am new to discussion groups and so hopefuylly my avatar shows the car if not at least you have the numbers.

I think your offset is wayyy too low. You need like a +48 or +50. I believe the offset for our stock TL-S rims is +55. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well you can try to have the fenders rolled or trim the rear bumper tabs. but there is nothing you can do to correct the problem other than get the correct offset. Offset is VERY VERY important on wheel fitment (especially on these cars) just as an example stock is +55

it is how much it sticks in or out of the wheel well. the higher the number, the more inwards it is, i think. the low offset is making the wheels stick out and rub.

My 19s are a 40 offset. You are going to have to cut the tabs and roll the fenders to make them not rub.
