I'd get NEITHER.

Why limit yourself and choose an "H" rated tire?! For the same price, you can be safe and get a "W".

If you MUST have all season...

the best value tire you can cross rotate is...
Sumitomo HTR+

If cross-rotating is NOT important...my pick would have to go with...

BUT...if you're limited to the 2 choices above...I'll get the Yokahamas PURELY by default.

I have the Yokohama H4s tires on my Infiniti and they offer excellent handling combined with great control in snow and other inclement weather

I'd go with the Yoko V4S. They are V-rated tires and have the exact load rating as the OEM Michelins that came with the car. Reviews on tirerack.com are favorable for this tire.

I have had the V4's on my 03 TLS for about a month now and they are great. Very quite, great handling in wet and dry. They are much better than the stock tires. They are a excellent all around tire for every day driving.

I would be looking at a new set for the TL-S possibly before winter. The stock 17's are not used in winter anyway, but I'm looking for a quieter tire with better wet traction and good treadwear.

The Yoko V4S (Treadwear 500, Traction AA, Temp A) seems to fit this category since reviews of the Sumitomo with premature treadwear and the Falken 512 with sidewall problems. I picked up a set of the Yoko H4S for my Mom's Altima and can say that it was a very good buy, two thumbs up on price and performance. The tire dealer gave me a 10% discount over the initial quote as well!

Hey Vic,

If you don't use OEM 17" rims in the winter, you're going with 16s, right? I don't think they make Yoko V4S in 16s that are similar tire circumference to 215/50/17. You'd have to go with Yoko H4S.

If you're in GTA, you might wanna look at dedicated winters ... I have a personal preference for Nokian.

---

But going back to the original poster ... you're in Houston ... why would you need all-seasons? Go with summer tires ... Toyo T1S/R or Yoko AVS-ES100! I think these tires would be within your budget ....

Derrick,

I took a chance and used the TL-P tire size 205/60/16 on stock Accord rims and OEM A/S Michelin Pilot HXs. The tread is still about 70% on those after 2 winters and the car drives "plush". When they wear out, I'd be looking at winters for the 16s, but by that time I'd probably be into the 6MT which probably needs 17" winter rims to clear the brembos.

How does the Kumho Escta ASX compare to the Sumitomo and the Yokohamas? Also does the Yokohama AVS ES100 comes in the OEM TLS 17" sizes?

Yokohama ES100 does come in 215/50/17. I am looking to replace my OE tire and still deciding which one to buy.

I've read through alot of research and Yokohama seems to be a better choice. Mind you, Falken 512 is a very very good bargin.
