function and form v tein v others

i'm wondering about coilover setups and specifically ride quality. I would like a ride as smooth as stocks (as close as possible) but low enough to eliminate the wheel gap. i'm tryin to stay in the 1k range.

thanks

closest to stock ride would proably be a set of replacement springs (like h&r or eibach), and then a set of nice shocks (like KYB or bilstein)

so any coilover setup is going to be stiffer? i don't want separate shock and springs, i want a coilover set, and if that means that i'll have stiffer ride than it's cool. in that case which would be better, func v tein v buddy club v etc?

you have to wait till someone else can chime in, but i think the tein basics will be your best bet for a stock-like ride, while still keeping around your $1000 budgt

^ yes..

Tein basics is as close as stock you can get as to ride quality..

however, if you ride really low, you lose that...

3rd on the Basics to ride close to stock. But if you're not going to bother adjusting ride height or want to be canned, just go for what friesm2000 said and get a spring/shock combo.

well i guess i wouldn't mind a stiffer ride, if it will improve my handling significantly. i had a set of skunk2 prorace coilovers or something like that in my civic and they were so freakin bumpy, but it was awesome on launches and handling.

i'm sure an m3 or rs6 ride relatively smooth even though they are sports cars or am i wrong? basically what im sayin is if i can get some coilovers that will get my car to handle similar to those then i would sacrifice some comfort.

if you do sway bars you need to do both, and if you just do the rear bar, you need at least bushings for the front, otherwise it makes the car a bit tail happy

and even a shock/spring combo will improve the handleing significantly, and i got the h&r's and bilstein's on my car and i would say it's ride is very compareable to a m3 or rs6 (if not even a little better) and it got rid of that floaty/sof ride of the factory system
