Enkei RPM2 Rims on SSM, Rubbing need advice

I just got my Enkei RPM2 18"/7.5/45 offset in Hyper Black with 225/45-R/18 BFG G-Force T/A KDW NTs. The only time I hear any rubbing is when I am at an extreme angle either up hill (rears rub) or down hill (fronts rub). It is only minor rubbing, and I cant tell what the tires are rubbing against. Can anyone tell from the pics what I need to do? Will cutting the tabs be enough? Really dont want to roll the fenders.

Try the Tires, Wheels & Suspension Thread

i had 225/40/18(x7.5)'s ET45 with rubbing issues going through big dips and such.
In my experience cutting the tabs helped my situation.

Would there be a big difference in width between a +45 offset and a +50 offset. I think since I just drove straight home and the wheels look new the shop might switch them out with a +50 offset.

This is very very weird..... I have the same rims..but with 42 offsets...and i have no rubbing issue at the front.. the rear should be ok after u trimmed the tab...
The only difference between our set up is tire size... I am using 225/40/18.. maybe your rubbing issue can be solved by chaning tire size..
hope this help

Can some shed some light, or even better, some pictures, on what and where these tabs are.

Thanks!

What I would do is this.

Find a road and location that you know causes your tires to rub
Back up 50 feet or so
Coat the sidewall and tread of the tire with chalk (yes chalk) - put it on nice and think
Drive down the road until you hear the tires rub
Immediately pull over and look inside the wheel well - you might have to jack up your car a little to see it

My guess is you're dropped too low. What is the car dropped on?

I am using the H&R 1.5/1.75 drop. The shop where I got the wheels suggested that I roll the fenders front and back and trim the tabs? What should this cost?

with 225/45-R/18 ----- this is your problem .. put 225/40-18 and you will be ok for the front, for the rear just cut the tab if they rub ..

I just spent about $400 to get those BFGs that are normally $160 each. I am going to a shop that will roll fenders for $150 total for front and back. The fronts are really bad, I dont think going from 45 to 40 will solve the rubbing

in the front put the rubber inside the wheels (remove the clips, put the rubber inside, and reput the clips on) this helped me with my 235/40.. and doing 225/45 to 225/40 will resolve your problem for sure..

I'm running 225/45/R18 with a 48mm offset also with the comptech(eibachs) drop and I used to rub all over. Rear was the bumper tabs and also a little along the edge of the fender. In the front it was really bad..., I rubbed all of the inner fender plastic clips off on the top (2 of them) and also rubbed a bit of the inner plastic fender. I also rubbed the inside of the front fender and had to use a little persuasion with a sledge hammer to get it to to stop rubbing. I won't give up the 45 height tires because of our shitting roads in South Carolina, don't wanna kill the rims, and also it looks way better when you have no wheel gap to the fender. I suggest getting it to rub for about 25-50 miles and then taking the tires off to see where you have wear in the fenders. The tires still looked new, but I could see where I was rubbing and I used the dremal and the hammer (lightly) to fix all my rubs. Now I can bonzia around corners with bumps and I have no rub. Good luck.

Here's a pic of mine, are you sure that you have a 45 mm offset, Mines only 3 mm more, but mine look like they tuck in more...

Apparently the 3mm makes a nbig difference. If rolling the fenders today does not fix the rubbing, my only option is to tell the shop where I got the wheels and installed at that they can either swap out for the +50 offset or I will have to sue their ass. First they told me a +40 offset would work, then I told them no it would be at least a +45 and possibly higher. So after the install, isnt the shop the expert, shouldnt they be able to tell me when they install the wheels/tires they are not the right size? I mean common, if I goto the expense of install wheels and tires, and roll my fenders and cut tabs with another shop, and they STILL rub, I think the shop should swap out the wheels. Right?

SWEET!!! $150 later, fenders rolled and I drove around town hauling ass in and out of bumpy roads, only on the most extreme dip in an intersection @ about 45mps did I here a very very faint split second rub, when before both fronts would have rubbed for a second VERY loud.
