Cutting Tab Tips

.. so I finally saved up some $$ and bought another 19" tire after badly damaging one of my tires. So me and one of my UTI buddies just got finished up re-mounting them and I'm rubbing constantly with absolutely nothing in my trunk. No system or spare and I'm still rubbing on even the slightest turns and dips. Pretty pissed b/c when I did an alignment check+adjustment at school, I had to raise up my rears b/c of the clearance with my stock Type-S wheels.. just to find out that I didn't raise it up enough. Anyways, after some searching and brainstorming.. which route would be the best way to cut my tabs: Using an angle grinder and just grinding away at my tabs, or should I just use a reciprocating saw and cut all of my tabs off? I could raise up my rears a little more but that would defeat the entire purpose of coilovers. Any help would be appreciated.. thanks in advance!

start gently- first try the dremel on the excess material at the tab towards the rear where the bumper cover meets the fender- about the 3 oclock position of the wheel
The AT YOUR OWN RISK, tape off the top part of the fender lip where it goes inside the fenderwell.and use the agle grinder around the 12 oclock- top position of the wheel- those are the common contact areas-

Warning Danger Spark Hazard Burn Hazard- cutting off part of the fender hazard!!!!!
cutting thru painters blue tape will reduce paint damage issues
Sand it smooth then paint with anti rust type paint on exposed metal - it WILL rust

search CL forum for a pictorial

??? Not sure about the metal, I trimmed all the urethane portions and effectively removed my tabs with no metal removed or even touched..I also rolled my fenders but didn't have to in hindsight..damm

I had to trim the tabs today myself after going with a 235/40. all i had to do was trim the bumper. I used a torch and a utility knife (poor mans hot knife) 2 min and it was all done and clean cut.

If your rubbing at the 12 oclock position you need to roll the fender. Jack up the opposite side front corner of the car and see where its rubbing. it will help to tell you how much and where.

Hey guys I got a similar question..

I got the 3G wheels, 235.45.17's and they're rubbing in the rears at the 2 O'clock position. You can see a 2 inch long indentation where they rub- Bad, but not too bad, but I'm thinkin of dropping the car soon and don't want the rubbing to get worse as I might get out of my car one day and see that the rear bumper ripped off.

Should I just cut it out along the indentation marks and will this stop the rubbing?

Also, I don't have the stock body kit. Mine is made from fiber glass, not polyeurothane or metal. Is there a preferred method of shaving/cutting fiber glass material?

Thanks
